Pre-Order Thread

Here's a seemingly new one...looks like issues with the latest "Jungle - Loving in Stereo" vinyl versions.

1. Folks who ordered the "sunburst orange" (limited to 500) are getting what looks like the the cream marbled version based on a potential shrink wrap UPC mix-up.

2. The advertised Indie version photos were "cream marbled"....but are showing up as black (at least at two of my locals who opened a few copies to confirm). Some on Reddit say it's a "blue marble" when held to the light...others just say "nah, it black".

It's kinda like there are pressing issues these days. ;)
I ordered the cream marble so I'll probably get the black press....booo.

Yeah...like I know Big Thief can run oddly pricy but the last two Newbury Comics exclusives (of all things) were $26 per and that wasn't that long ago. I've whined enough about $40 post shipping single LPs so I'll spare y'all but still.
it's annoying when it's a pure price gouge like this instance. The regular LP is sitting next to it on Rough Trade's site for $23.99. Maybe $25 or even $30 would be /fine/. Someone is likely tooling with a spreadsheet for how much they could charge and potentially make by pricing it that way. They will sell out so they'll get away with it... I already have the Gold edition of this album, so I'm not buying, just complaining

I preordered the dark red from Rough Trade - still not here. Got a shipping notification last Thursday, but it's still in pre-shipment. Wonder what I'll actually get, if it ever arrives.

This is an interesting one. Mr Bongo has a preoder for this record and in the description (see below the link), it's unclear what the album will be cut from other than that it will be "audio taken off the original master tapes." Could be anything, right?

"For this edition, we have enlisted the services of Abbey Road Studios mastering, and lacquer-cutting engineer Miles Showell to cut a special half-speed master from the audio taken off the original master tapes. "

Last year I purchased this same record from We Are Busy Bodies. In their description of the limited pressing they were offering, they claim the album was remastered from the original 1/4 master tapes. That sounds more like an all-analogue process, but again, can't be sure.

"Remastered by Noah Mintz at Lacquer Channel from the original 1/4 master tapes, Yakhal'Inkomo is a truly essential jazz recording of the South African apartheid era."

I also have this copy, and I can't find any explanation anywhere of how this was mastered.

Ultimately, all of that doesn't matter as long as it sounds good, and at the moment I'm not in a position to offer an opinion about the pressings I have (it's been a while since I played the 2017 release and I don't know that I've yet spun the 2020 pressing), and that wouldn't be relevant to this pre-order anyway :D. Posting this mostly because it might be of interest to some of you Jazz lovers who may have missed out on previous offerings.

Glad I don't need this because these are the most boring variants ever.
