Pre-Order Thread

First-ever pressing of Arms and Sleepers' 2011 EP A Man, A Plan, A Canal: Panama, just went live for preorders via SlyVinyl. Only coke bottle swirl remains.

Not a preorder but I hadn’t heard this until just now

I think it's part of a series - part 2 (below) is southern soul, then there's one by Dylan, a 60s country covers record, a Christmas one, and finally a Rolling Stones one. Happy days...

That's a great, great album. Same vein as mermaid Avenue wilco/ Bragg comps.
Is that the covers of basement tapes songs? Is it any good? I’m always inherently sceptical of those types of projects.

There's a making of the album Documentary that is entertaining.

The best song on the album, IMO, is the best thing "The guy from Dawes" has ever done.

And I hate to admit that the Mumford boy's Kansas City is pretty good - (I prefer the Liberty Street by Mandy Moore's Husband)

Also, my boy, JJ kicks off the album with a strong offering.

Living in Kansas City when that song was released was a cool experience, but a month later it became veeery stale to hear it everywhere I went, so it soured me on the album a bit. Which is a shame since I know there's a lot of great artists on the album. I'll have to revisit it soon.

I tried my luck at that wax mage but it was gone in seconds.

I was refreshing on Best Buy hoping for a PS5 drop the minute these went live, so swirl it is for me.

Was totally prepped yesterday for the super-limited Show Me A Dinosaur - Plantgazer drop on A Thousand Arms—logged in with payment info stored—and I still only managed to squeak out the second variant. Turns out they only had 10 of the first and 20 of the second for US distro. They were gone before the store could even post about orders being live!

Why is this $30? I mean, I bought it, but SC releases are generally closer to $20/$22...?
Yeah, I picked up the black version a couple years back for like $14 from Amazon. I would repurchase this if it were in the $20 to $25 range just because all my other WOD records are on colored wax but I can’t justify spending $40 (with tax+shipping) on an album that I already own and isn’t some sort of Audiophile type pressing. I wouldn’t mind picking up the Jens LP too but, even though I don’t own a copy of that; there are new black copies available n Discogs for under $20. Paying a premium for colored wax isn’t gonna cut it for me anymore.

I saw that tour! At that point, the Beastie Boys were unknown outside NYC (maybe the northeast?) and closer to punk than rap.
They were actually supposed to open for Guns N’ Roses in liiiike 1991? I remember being very conflicted about wanting to go but not wanting to deal with a GNR crowd. Luckily the tour swerved and they plunked in Brian May as the opener instead saving me the trouble.

I really liked Rhiannon Giddens on “Spanish Mary” - it felt like a song I’d heard somewhere before. She’s also good on the very last song on that album.

I was at this show. Just watching everyone slip down the muddy hill was entertaining in itself, though I'm sure everyone in my group did as well. I don't ever remember seeing The Roots at Alpine, so must of either been that drunk or just went in late and completely missed the opener, so that's sad!
Usually what happened at Dave alpine shows. I think that was the only time I went in for an opener there. Otherwise it was just an extra hour or so to get wasted.

Well dang, my comment many pages back about it being strange RTJ opened for Lorde really inspired some walks down memory lane on strange opener/headliner combos! Fun to read them. In terms of responses and traction, this certainly beats last time something I commented on in here inspired reactions, which was my unabashed love for TTL notepads. It all neatly comes full circle, since the RTJ/Lorde concert experience story I was commenting on was inspired by the TTL RTJ2 drop. I hope they make a mistake and toss 7 notepads in with my order.

Buying a PS5 seems like such a chore. They should have just waited until 2021 to do the launch.

I only own a Switch at the moment and I'll probably go with the Switch Pro once it comes out, but I feel for those who want a PS5 and Xbox and can't buy one. So many annoying things keeping people from getting them easily. I can't believe how bad it is with the scalpers this time. Seems worse than any before that I can think of.

The pandemic is mostly to blame. People had time to learn about hobbies, old or new, and just how easy it is to sell things online. Just need internet, a product and a box and it basically sells itself. Every hobby is wrecked in one way or another.
