Pre-Order Thread

I think p4k said in their reissue of those albums years ago that there wasn't really a difference between analog and digital sound

I just wish I could buy the best one

If you go back through all the pages of links there are still some U.K./Irish indies with copies for sale. The shipping cost might not be ideal though! Fingers crossed you get a US release in the coming hours/days!

I think they’re a cult act too. With limited pressings they’ll fly because there is a hardcore market demanding it. That’s seen in the pricing frenzy after the last one was such a short run. If they did the deluxe as a long run i could see copies sitting. Equally it’s so far only been available in their home country and the country in which they were a big cult act on the cult indie of the late 80s/90s.
They are a cult act but by now it's also been years and years of them topping best of lists by the people who follow pitchfork and /mu/ and reddit, etc. which I think now has a big overlap with at least the younger people spending like crazy on vinyl these days.

I think if the last copies didn't sell out for good sooner than people expected and they had done a very clear *THIS WILL BE AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE AND IS NOT LIMITED* press release today then they may have moved slower but would even still move far more copies than the last reissues.

the press of the 2CD also has some errors on it, forgot what though (I think thats the pressing and review you are referencing, also not sure if thats been corrected for this CD pressing of loveless)

whats funny was (not name dropping here, just saying cause it comes from him) when i talked to kevin in 2007 he actually pulled the 2CD set just based on the liner notes, and it was delayed for another year haah

I think it’s also that 88-91 was their peak. You're looking at the 35-45 age range for the majority of purchases. There’s some purchasing power there. Also makes a mockery of people saying that the likes of mofi/AP etc couldn’t sell audiophile masters of newer albums.

I'm going to be that person (and this isnt an edgy or hot take on my part) but MBV > Loveless

i mean I've met people that live and die by ISN'T ANYTHING

so...haha

For those with the 2013 version of MBV, i will say the cover is a big upgrade, as some of you may know those covers for the first pressing were terrible (I believe they switched to better ones a year or so later?). But this would be a huge upgrade sleeve wise, if that is your thing, plus it comes with some new art from what I can tell
The original 2013 pressing, the legit one btw, also came with a cd copy of the album that fit inside the gatefold as well. Seems they are skipping that this time.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they have more new fans now than they did when they were an active band. Already mentioned here but P4K, /mu/core and other indie circles are massive, massive fans of them. I get grouped into there too because P4K helped form my early music tastes in late 2000s-early 2010s.

this is wild to me. i'm really glad people are so stoked on these records, but i remember in 2017/2018 when those remasters were up for sale, they were on sale for a long time.

I know from a US perspective my buddy refused to buy them due to shipping and paid for it later

so maybe that is part of it, but this band has just gotten more and more popular (not that they werent popular before), which is good, but wow...did not expect this
They became a meme band on the Shoegaze subreddit... Something about them and vacuum cleaners lol

What was terrible? I just pulled mine out and it looks ok - it's not terribly impressive cover art to begin with. Not a challenge but a real question. Not hi res or something?

Yeah that’s perhaps true over there. For me over here they were one of those bands that came kinda 3 or 4 years before I started getting into music and that all your favourite bands would talk about in hushed tones of reverence lol.

All I have to say is the Kevin is directly responsible for a % of my hearing loss after the '91 Holocaust Tour so that bugger owes my a AAA copy of Loveless with fair shipping.
I have known several people that said mbv was easily the loudest show they’d gone to.
