Definitive Audiophile pressings

He always buys audiophile pressings! I would love to meet him in person! I really wonder what he’s like and I’d love to see his passion for vinyl and music in person! Also, I wonder if he’s funny and cheeky too! Seems like a really nice guy as well but dang...he must have a really high paying job with all the audiophile pressings he constantly buys! 😵👀
You probably have more APs than I do! I bought a bunch of MoFis years ago (think I got 10 or so just from that random discogs discount account that someone found on the old forum). MoFis used to be real cheap and stay in stock for a long time. I got a few different Miles MoFi pressings for $20-$25 on Amazon too like In A Silent Way and Sketches of Spain. And I do a bunch of late night/weekend ebay searching whenever I'm bored.

In the past 2 years or so I started trying to buy quality over quantity and somehow ended up doing both I guess hah.

Somebody already paid $102 for Love Supreme on Discogs. I guess afraid it wouldn't be repressed?
Yep. I see insane stuff like that all the time on the Hoffman classifieds or facebook groups that buy/sell/trade vinyl. MoFi and AP titles in particular are the worst when it comes to that. People refuse to believe that certain titles will be repressed and panic buy. Either that, or they don't care and want albums now and have the money to not wait for them. Some of those early Tone Poets sell for insane money too. Someone bought Chet Baker Sings Tone Poet for $200+ already.

Yeah that is really frustrating some times with random used presses with listings like this, for example:

I've been known to not bother getting the pressing plants right in certain presses 😱 unless it is a Monarch or something.
I have found the best way to locate specific pressings when there are a bunch of them is to search by album title and runout matrix in google as opposed to directly in Discogs usually the first few results will be Discogs pages and most of the times I’ve been able to find what I’m looking for.

I ordered the MoFi Before The Flood and decided id pull out my OG copy to see if that was a good idea, i looked on my shelves and couldn't find it- I went on my Discogs and saw it was gone. I must have sold it to a local a long time ago.

I'm still shaking.

I think I would probably buy more Audiophile releases if companies that made audiophile releases pressed more albums that I enjoy. I don’t listen to as much Jazz or Classic Rock that I do Alternative, Indie, or Hip-Hop releases.
I hear ya. I found that I go through waves of what I buy/listen to. If I look at my discogs collection I can see when I was really into buying jazz vs rock vs hip hop. Been listening to more classic rock and soul lately so I picked up a bunch of MoFis for the rock stuff. My streaming/digital set up leans more into indie/alternative/hiphop now since it's easier for me to buy some CDs to rip or just stream those titles. I do wish there were more indie/alternative high quality reissues. Not sure if it's a source tape kinda issue or just that some of the labels don't think there's a market for it. We know good reissues can be done with well-recorded digital sources though...

I’m guessing @AnthonyI is in the top 3 as he has a MoFi t-shirt and a MoFi turntable!

Also, @HiFi Guy probably has a lot of MoFi pressings too! He as well has an UltraDeck and loves MoFi!
MoFi - 38 with the Santana ordered today
AP - 18

............and yes, without the t-shirt this wouldn't be possible, lol
