Soul Step Records Announces SSR-067

If you want to learn more about Soul Step - come visit us in the VINYL CLUBS section!

Soul Step Records are proud to announce a brand new artist and release to our label. We are happy to welcome Marcus Machado to Soul Step Records! We will be releasing Marcus’ debut album, “Aquarious Purple” to vinyl exclusively through Soul Step Records.

Marcus was named “Next Young Gun” by Rolling Stone Magazine and since then, Marcus has not disappointed in becoming one of the most in demand young guitar players in the world in both the studio and on the road. Recently, Marcus has collaborated on the music score for the documentary “Mr. Soul.” Marcus has also was requested to play the national anthem in Madison Square Garden for the NY Knicks as well as Oracle Arena for the Golden State Warriors.

This album comes with many different styles and layers. We kindly refer to “Aquarious Purple” as guitar driven rhythm and funk from another planet! This album will resonate with fans of D’Angelo’s funk, Jimi Hendrix’s soaring guitar solos, and the smooth soul of Raphael Saadiq. Once this LP is on your record player - you will be on a trip with Marcus that will touch so many different influences. “Aquarious Purple” will invite you to spin it again and again to uncover all the different layers built into these grooves.

Soul Step Records will be releasing Marcus Machado’s debut LP “Aquarious Purple” to Soul Step Subscribers on Saturday, February 27th. The general public sale will begin on Monday, March 1st. This LP will be available to stream on your favorite music service on Friday, February 26th.

Soul Step Records highly encourages fans to sign up to be a Soul Step Subscriber for free, as most of our limited edition vinyl sell out before it goes on sale to the general public.

Oohhh that Wax Mage! Seriously I'm really digging all these Wax Mage releases. Just too bad they all seem to be so limited

Love the Dead, but the last thing I need is another set closing with One More Saturday Night.
You know the songs you hate by bands you love?

Yeah - thats One More Saturday Night for the Dead.
Impossible Germany for Wilco.

But this isn't the hot take thread...so feel free to disregard.
Funny. I've heard Jeff say, more than once, "with Nels Cline on guitar each night, I would be an idiot for not putting 'Impossible Germany' on the setlist." And he does have a point. And I will say, while I would be 100% fine if they never played it live again, I would also be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the hell out of it each and every time. Nels is a legend, and within Wilco, this song is his nightly platform to astound.

Aw shit I just saw Fat Possum’s mention of it being “the first of four” reissues. I may have to buy them all. I have standard Plain issues of them which are apparently really bad even though I have been satisfied with them. Spiritualized are one of my all time favorites so I should probably jump on these and sell the others. I’m also missing Let It Come Down which would be the 4th in this series.

Edit: so bizarre that shipping is $2 cheaper from Fat Possum than the band’s site, when I’m pretty sure the label is also the one filling those orders.

Found a discount code!

Does that Mondo version of HER go on sale today or next week... I can't find the date anywhere...
TODAY at Noon CST here. But if you want to save a few bucks on shipping and are fine with white vinyl instead of red, just go to Milan instead.

Cool cool. I thought they usually had a countdown timer...

Always wish there could be more - but I'm just lucky that we get the chance to offer them!
I have enjoyed several of your label's releases and the Wax mage versions go in seconds. Could you educate us from a label perspective as to why the Wax Mage versions are challenging to produce in larger numbers? Does it cost more on your end and if the prices for those were higher, would that make any difference in how many are made? Thanks in advance.

The most simple explanation is - the plant itself will not allow quantities in excess of 25. They are done with their own methods and are handmade. The cost per unit is quite high for the items themselves as well, compared to your standard vinyl. I really wish we could get them in larger numbers but the additional time it takes to make them is what holds them back I believe.

That's why we have the LTD/100 versions as well - so there are some beautiful wax to go around. Hope that answers the question!

EVERY FUCKING SHOW at the 1/2 way to 2/3 mark they break it out.
I wish there was a Betting site to bet on Concert Set lists....I'd be a retired Millionaire betting IG being played at any Wilco show I attend.

**In My Best PSH doing Lester Bangs Voice": Gimme Bull Black Nova! It has the courage to dovetail into a feedback freeform freakout during the live set, which makes it poetic."
