Definitive Audiophile pressings

Do you have a mono button on your amp/ Preamp? You can get the Stereo and have mono as well.
I believe it's a different recording in general. I'm pretty sure I saw on quick look that it's different performances for the stereo and mono and nearly all stereo pressings are hard panned with the horns and vocals.

I do not. But as mentioned, I think it's actually a different recording/performance from the Mono vs the stereo. It's not just a matter of folding it down. The mixes are very different too. Ole Man Trouble and I've Been Loving You Too Long were recorded in mono and then re-recorded in stereo later on.

Right, I had that RSD Stereo/Mono set but I never listened to it so I sold it last year , should have paid more attention !🧐

I'm seriously intrigued about what they'll do next, assuming this one lives up to expectations.
Same and im intrigued to see if they stick to the price point. Im hoping for some more obscure/less obvious jazz picks. There's lots which get brushed over that would still sell really well.

I had a shipping notification on Friday but it's still in pre-shipment...Anybody else?
The UK distributor is using Royal Mail with a service that only provides an update once delivery is attempted. Kind of a pointless tracking unless something doesn't turn up, but I imagine I might even see it by the weekend!

I just received these AP’s from my local:

Beach Boys- Pet Sounds stereo 33
Muddy Waters- Folk Singer 45
Helen Merrell 3
Pretty awesome, right?

Except they are ALLLLLLLLLLLL warped. All 4 discs. I think they are the new 180g represses and not the older 200g discs. Not off to a very good start with that as far as I’m concerned!

I put in a special order for these with my local so unless I want to screw them over I think I am stuck with these defective discs. This suuuuuuuucks.
AP is no longer doing 200g discs sadly.

At the very least, I'd imagine that 200g discs were less prone to warps which would help in this case!

hahaha fair enough. That’s the only reason I can think of too. Beyond the fact that I absolutely reject the fact that heavier necessarily equals better 200g is so difficult to press and creates so many more QC issues a drop to 180g is no bad thing. Hell I’d be happy to see them all at 120g if it meant they were cheaper!

i think I just threw up in my mouth a little.
haha. Are there any titles that you're hoping for from the Craft/Concord catalogue? I'm not entirely sure what more modern rock they have access to--I just know they have a pretty vast catalogue of recordings. They have the later REM albums as we have talked about, but aside from that trying to think of what else ya might dig! I think they have a bunch of soul music rights as well. Craft has rights to Otis Redding, Traveling Wilburys and Stax, plus I think some blues artists like JLH, all of which are a little bit out of the norm for this kinda product. I'd love for some soul music to get a nice reissue or Big Star which I have talked about but everybody just says that their original tapes are screwed.

Some Otis would be brilliant.

Honestly it’s not so much just about them. I get their catalogue probably precludes that. They’re reissuing what they own so short of them buying some more rights I can’t see it either. The right Otis album would tempt me as would potentially the Willburys, although that box is supposedly already quite good.

My beef really lies with MoFi and AP! Particularly MoFi. By all means do your jazz and classic rock but stop scraping the classic rock barrel and mix it up semi regularly with something that at least has a semblance of modernity.

Also would some label somewhere get us a full set of quality Joni Mitchell reissues? There are so many of her titles out of print and she’s miles better than all these dull men that mofi keep putting records out by. Would be a far better choice than Clapton or David fucking Crosby.

Amen. I'm bummed I missed out on that KG cut of Blue last year...completely missed it but hoping that gets a repress. It's on backorder at Acoustic Sounds so hoping it's just a victim of the backed up represses at RTI.

I have, I think, 4 of hers that got rhino reissues and Shine that was on concord and craft reissued. There seems to not be any drive to keep anything outside Blue and Court and Spark in print. Even the Nonsuch ones from the 2000s are out of print, if they were ever issued, on vinyl.

Annoyingly our blue Blue was an Optimal in house cut, not that it’s terrible or anything but it’d have been nice to have the big Kev “whose your daddy” edition.

Yeah I have them, the blue blue and the rhinos of The Intense Hissing of Summer Lawns and Hejira too. I’d like the rest to get properly reissued too though! There’s so much more good stuff there!
