The Blue Note Thread

I will say other than Amazon, pre-orders have definitely been spottier than they were a year or two ago. I wonder if that is a distribution chain issue.

I did Amz, just hope it doesn't arrive in a bag :)

I'm open to one other must have if anyone has any suggestions ?

good to know, I saw a few out of stock (Speak No Evil) so was a bit worried about that.
I believe BN said that the Classics titles and Tone Poets don't plan to go out of print anytime soon. They are just selling at a much quicker pace than anticipated originally and with how backed up the pressing plants are, they'll eventually be back in stock.

Thats great that the MM resell thing will not happen right away then.

i have still seen people flipping them and calling them "out of print" but I wouldn't pay any crazy second-hand prices for them. Chet Baker tone poet is now selling for $95 on discogs which is crazy. Somebody bought a copy for $183 apparently...

as for your other question about other titles coming out, I think the list for this year is coming out soon!

Looks like Into Somethin' is March!!!! fingers crossed on Street Of Dreams (and Hold Your Hand, and Talkin' About eventually)

Does anyone ever see Into Somethin' or Street Of Dreams coming in this series or TP ?
Into Somethin' was a BN80 release last year. Street of Dreams could be a Classics eventually since it was a BN75 release and the Classics series seems to be repressing titles that had mediocre releases back in 2014-2015.

No. Most were done by either Bernie Grundman or Alan Yoshida. They're mostly hit or miss. I have some that sound great and some that are really muddy and awful. The EU pressings were better than the US versions.
and BN80 seem to be on par with the Classics series ?

Correct. The BN80 series were Kevin Gray mastered 180 gram releases. Blue Note wanted to capitalize on the success of Tone Poets and the BN80s. The Classics seem to be a cheaper but still high quality version of the Music Matters SRX series. I'm all for it as I'm never going to be able to afford any SRXs.

I believe most were cut from digital masters as well. Also pressed at United for whatever that's worth. Some were good. Some not so much.

Yes, I believe that's correct. Another reason I'm happy with the Classics line. All analog from the master tapes.

I think the EU versions of the BN75 were analog remasters but I could be wrong. I've just seen they're held in higher regard.

2xLP preorder is up. Probably available elsewhere too.
