Let's See What Makes Your Vinyl Spin!

And following on from that, just because I'm bored today and in the mood...vintage vinyl, about 60% Japanese pressings.

And...newer pressings, at least some, more are upstairs.

One of the glorious open baffle Auris 2 speakers, with the PHY-HP driver. I actually use two of them. To the right is one of a few overload vinyl storage units, and further right are a few box sets.

I am a bit OCD and on the autism spectrum for sure. I keep quite a few spares around - from left, two JICO urushi SAS styli and the regular SAS- MM1 cartidge, a couple of Garrott cartridges, a bunch of Jico SAS replacement styli, and to the right some nice vintage NOS Nagaoka JT-555 with Shibata styli and carbon black cantilevers, as well as the same cartidge branded Tonar 555.

A closer look at the urushi lacquer Jico SAS styli.

Always wanting to be prepared for the coming zombie apocalypse, I keep a decent stock of NOS tubes to ensure the continuity of my Leben amp.

My god, man, you're prepared for hi-fi Armageddon! Oh, and I think I saw some floor space where you might be able to fit a few more records :D.

Well played sir. I will get these tickets refunded immediately. And by refunded I mean I'm going to delete the ones I just created in MS Paint on my computer.
Nope. You buy the ticket, you take the ride. When my kids interrupt my listening sessions, which they tend to do, I always remember to thank them for ruining my life.

edit: In my mind, of course. I love the little life-ruiners.

The new SoundSmith Zephyr MIMC arrived today! Initial (30 mins or so) impressions are good. Soundstage is much wider, practically wall to wall in some cases. Soundstage has more discernible depth as well. Picked up a couple small details I hadn't noticed before too. It'll take some time and a bunch of different albums for me to suss out more.

What were you using before?

At a lower price point from @Splunders Soundsmith MIMC Star (half exactly) the Dynavector DV10X5 doesn’t disappoint at all. It’s a definite step up from the Grado Gold3. Because it’s a high output MC, its designed to be used with a standard MM phono preamp. I’m really happy with it.

I picked up a lightly used 10x5 (mkI) for when I send in the Zephyr for retipping.

iirc the Zephyr MIMC has unusually high channel separation, at any price bracket. It’s one of the cart’s calling cards. Glad to see more folks getting into SoundSmiths!

On that note: @HiFi Guy I really am enjoying this Grado. Many thanks for passing it along!
