Never listened to this band, but I love that cover art

Black Keys is one of those bands I'm kind of over. But looking at this tracklist this album had some good stuff on it.

was just thinking the same, particularly about their output during this era. Rubber Factory still 10/10 though

Agreed, agreed. IMO they are best consumed live. Seeing two people create that much sound with that much energy is great, similar to Japandroids (although I listen to Japandroid albums regularly, unlike Black Keys).

Back when I was a member of the record club that shall not be named, they had that album as one of their add-ons. I thought the title and band name were neat, so I blind bought it. I now own ten of their albums (still missing a couple) and saw them live last year before the world ended. It was a worthwhile investment in my opinion.

Their latest stuff is definitely meh at best, but Brothers is an all-time fave for me. As overplayed as it is, the breakdown in Tighten Up is amazing, and the last three tracks on the record bring it home every time.

Seen them twice in big arena shows... would love to see them in a smaller venue someday!

My favorite stretch is actually Magic Potion through El Camino. I actually could never get in to Rubber Factory.
Rubber Factory and Thickfreakness were and continue to be the only Black Keys albums I will ever need to own. They are good at crafting music and I understand why they are one of the very few modern guitar rock bands that still garner attention. The more they expanded their sound the less interest I had.
