Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Now that they "adjusted" their prices, is this going to be more than the Dead box?
Damn I didnt consider this. Im a massive Herbie fan and have even held back on picking up a few of his records in the hope that they will include it in the Anthology box. If its an extortionate amount though I will have to pass up on it.

It's been so long, did we ever get any specifics on how many LPs? I know the thought was one from Blue Note (probably Empyrean Isles), one from the Miles Davis Columbia run, and then some 70s and 80s solo efforts. Kinda hoping it's got 2 or so that I already have, one of which is a MOFI, so I can feel better about skipping it.

8 albums. And all else we really know is that VMP worked with "Hancock, UMe, and Sony" for it.

Words can’t describe how excited I am to get this Herbie Hancock boxset! 🎁🔑🤗🎹

I’ve got Herbie Hancock’s The Prisoner from the Time Poet series, which is AAA, and 180g, mastered by Kevin Gray and pressed at RTI! In a few weeks time, Tone Poet will be releasing Herbie Hancock’s My Point of View, which will also be a Kevin Gray mastering and pressed at RTI!

I’ve also got Herbie Hancock’s debut album, Takin’ Off, which was part of the BlueNote80 series, and it sounds magnificent too! It was mastered by Kevin Gray too and is on 180g vinyl! The soundstage on these recent Blue Note reissues for both Takin’ Off and The Prisoner are impressive!

The Analogue Productions pressing for Head Hunters is marvellous too! It sounds great and has a nice wide soundstage presence too!

I really hope that Empryean Isles and Maiden Voyage are both in this upcoming VMP Anthology Boxset, even though they were only released a year apart! Really hope we get Thrust, Fat Albert Rotunda and Sextant as well!

For Herbie Hancock’s later work, I hope we get Sunlight and Future Shock!

Baby Monster has never been so excited for a VMP Anthology Boxset! 😄🥳🙇‍♂️

Is that a quote from Storf?

UMe includes Blue Note, Mercury, and Verve.
Sony includes Columbia / Legacy,

No Warner Brothers would exclude Fat Albert, Mwandishi, and Crossings.
Speakers Corner did a great reissue for Crossings, but I’d really hope Mwandishi could be a possibility! I love that album! I’d be also happy with Crossings being in the Boxset too! 🤗

Because Herbie Hancock is strongly involved in this Boxset (Hooray! 🙌), let’s hope that he is able to really choose whatever album he wants in the Boxset, regardless on which label it was released on! 🤞

I would honestly be happy with Head Hunters being in the Boxset even though I’ve got the AP pressing, because that album is just 🏆!

I just hope VMP don’t put any of the Tone Poet releases in the Boxset, as that would be disappointing! Would be disappointing if even any of the BlueNote80 releases were in the Boxset too!

At 8 albums, I imagine this is at least $400. I have a decent amount of his top tier albums, so this is gonna have to be pretty spectacular for me to buy in. Honestly the Dead box was a bit of a letdown in terms of the availability of the albums included in quality pressings, hopefully this isn’t the same.

Yeah, I’ve got a feeling this Boxset is going to be expensive too! Really hoping I’m blown away by the picks and that the pressing details in general are top notch!

If what the press release says was true, then I don't see us getting Crossings or Mwandishi or Fat Albert as @TCell said. Just because Herbie is involved doesn't mean he can get any album he wants from any label he was on. He did enough good albums for BN & Columbia to make the cut. If the price is high, I really hope though that this doesn't include albums that have easily available audiophile quality albums. I would want more stuff than just reissues that have been on Speakers Corner or Pure Pleasure or AP because last I checked, a bunch of those are still easily found for around $30-$35. Anything from MM would be great though because most of those MM reissues are crazy expensive now. I think Crossings, Flood and Man-Child already have audiophile releases in the last few years. I'm just very curious to see where this is priced at.

Well...
Motown was $345 for 8 albums / 9 LPs.
GD is $449 for 8 albums / 14 LPs

Let’s say it’s 8 albums / 10 LPs, so $400 with a discount for previous subscribers seems likely considering they just increased prices for their RotMs. I’d be pleasantly surprised if it’s less, but I’m not holding my breath.

Yeah, apparently the Speakers Corner reissue for Man-Child sounds really good! I was going to purchase it, but didn’t, just in case that album ends up being in the Anthology! Crossings of course got reissued by Speakers Corner and sounds amazing!

Maiden Voyage and Empryean Isles both need to be in this Anthology Boxset! I want them to be in there so badly! 😩😩😩

And then it’s like USD$40 shipping for us internationals on top!
