Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I was being a bit insensitive though with Dukey, I have to admit! 😶

I think I can’t help but just get so excited when I really like a ROTM pick though! I still think Ghostface Killah’s Fishscale is the best Rap & Hip-Hop ROTM this year along with Prince Paul! 💎👌
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with talking up music you’re passionate about. Someone else’s bank account isn’t your responsibility.

its bad when you know someone has an obsessive compulsive disorder and has an issue with spending too much money that the constant talk about how amazing things are makes you feel like you are missing out... it feels like you are persuading someone into buying something just to make everyone else happy

And yet here you are, hanging out in a record buying forum where people talk about the music they like and the records they want to buy...

ok.. my idea is to buy what i know i want from RSD, if i find that i am unable to get a certain album i have on my list because it sells out or something or is just not in my store i will buy ghostface because beyond the skits and "hey being whipped by my mom was kinda nice" song its a good record (even if it could have been about 10 songs less).. so i dont overspend anything

That’s such a good R&HH ROTM too! 10/10 pick! I still think Ghostface Killah and Prince Paul is better. But El-P would be my 3rd favourite this year, with Lord Finesse being 4th and Blackalicious being 5th! 🥇🥈🥉🏆💎

im not that familiar with the Ghostface album, but the EL-P and Blackalicious would top the list for me. i havent been subscribed to this service since November though.

Hmmm....I’d personally put El/Blackalcious/PP/Ghostface

Ghostface is great but those other 3 albums rep, to me, much greater statements in the genre of hip hop. I don’t rank Lord Finesse. It’s fine (I didn’t pick it up) but it’s not in the same ballpark as those other albums

I'll Sleep When You're Dead is the entire reason I subscribed to VMP after trying to track it down but looking at insane discog prices. Still looking for a sub $50 Fantastic Damage which I estimate I'll get by time I'm 50.
Good luck. I’ve two copies of Fantastic Damage. One still in shrink w hype stickers and signed. I paid ~$150-200 for each

Yeah, I do get a free membership with VMP.
they want me to be a VMP member for life, for free.
So yes, I’ve got free membership for as long as VMP are around! 🙏
ever since I got the free membership (for life)
as I don’t pay for membership etc.
But yes, I do get free membership with VMP!

I have a serious OCD issue with spending too. My collection is well over 1k and I've been buying for only like 4 years and am now in the process of selling records just to make room (and to spare myself my wife's wrath).
But If I come in here I have to take responsibility for myself. As @juiceless said, it is record buying forum....

Also I may be easily pressured but it's Nathan....I love the guy and believe he is 100% genuine in how excited he is but honestly an endorsement from him on a ROTM means about as much as one from VMP themselves. He loves almost everything...

And please @NathanRicaud, never stop. I love the juxtaposition you bring to the VMP topics.

Yes, @NathanRicaud has never met a superlative he doesn't like!

I agree with the idea that, in the end, we all have agency and the individual holds their own purse strings. But on the flip of that agency is that each individual has the discretion to see someone saying that they don't know where they are going to get the money for something (and we can go round and round about the responsibility of spending your last cent on records - I know I have more than given my 2-cents in the past about this type of spending habit) and then a post later pushing someone that they NEED to have it. It's a delicate dance.

Also true. I guess there is a difference between just straight up cheerleading a release and then persisting that someone should buy it.

But again, it's Nathan....It's essentially hyperbole.
