Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

what is this thing about 20% extra credits i have been hearing about..
If you were subscribed under the Essentials track, and swapped your Buena Vista Social Club for store credit (After VMP informed us of this 20% bonus credit thing), you would receive an extra 20% credit on top of your store credit!

Guys, I am still really bummed I missed out on the Freddie Gibbs x The Alchemist Alfredo exclusive! 😭😭😭

The pinwheel variant looked incredible and it's one of my favourite albums of 2020 + I love VMP! This is me right now, wishing I never missed out on that exclusive:

personally i just know vinceron is a scamming shitbag.. i dont think VMP is colluding with them.. seeing as they are also flipping other exclusives like the UO fame monster

Yeah, from what I saw on Reddit the company or person doesn’t sound like someone I’d want to support. Boasting that they’re the biggest distributor in Washington(state).
It sounds like they could have some kind of arrangement with VMP to take their returned/defective items off their hands or even just have multiple accounts for resale.
I’ve been trying to stay away from VMP nonsense, but sometimes it finds me.

I'm with you on that Nathan! We both got really unlucky that day 🚫🍀☔ it's a great album though and I'm super happy I've still got it coming on black because I can't wait to get to spinning it 🍽🍝🔥 in the meantime we can put up alerts on Discogs in case someone puts one up at a decent price 🔎💰😍

Plus there's so many fantastic albums you have from before I was even a member so I've got the entire Powerpuff Girls squad teary eyed thinking of people that have Outkast, Madlib, Otis Redding, QotSA, both Denzel Curry's and soooo many more 😭😂 but at the same time I've got a load of awesome records still to be shipped and many more still to be released!! I'm sure we'll get the next hot 🎶🌋 record and maybe if we'd have got Alfredo we wouldn't get that! 🕣🌌🔀🕙 So go spin an old VMP release you really love and feel better 🤗

I was going to purchase the standard variant of 'Alfredo' as soon as it became a pre-order, but shipping was too expensive, so I'm going to wait until the release comes to my local records stores! 😃🤹‍♂️👨‍💻

I'm definitely going to try and hunt down the VMP variant though! 🧐🚔💎 It's such an awesome looking variant!🛡🎯🍜

Yeah, I have to admit I've got an amazing VMP collection! I've got all those artists you mentioned (including all three of Denzel Curry's exclusives)! I was lucky and snagged a copy of the neon yellow variant of Charli XCX's "How I'm Feeling Now", which is the only 'limited' edition, and is limited to only 1,000 copies! 📀 So I'm going to keep that sealed and maybe swap it for the VMP exclusive of Alfredo! Like I don't even care, I'll post on Reddit asking who wants to swap my Charli XCX for Freddie Gibbs x The Alchemist! 🍰🙊😏

We are both definitely going to get the next hot exclusive! 🏆🧨 I'm going to spin Slowdive's "Pgygmalion" and De La Soul's "Buhloone Mindstate" tomorrow to keep me warm! 🔥🔥🔥

And you know what, at least I didn't miss out on that Whitney Houston exclusive, because that's the one I want the most and it's sold out, and I know I would've been kicking myself if I missed out on that one! 😅💯

Can't wait to have a dark hot chocolate and spin Fiona Apple's The Idler Wheel...later on this week! ☕🍫🧸

Also, can't wait to fall in love with "When The Pawn..." all over again too when I receive the vinyl and spin it! ♥♟️

I ended up grabbing a copy and am now realizing that I probably will never listen to it haha. But maybe I can trade it with someone for an album I do want...
Dang! You must love VMP exclusives if you did a blind buy! As much as I love VMP, I always make sure I listen to the album/singles from an album before purchasing it from the store! I could never blind buy an album unless it's Frank Ocean, D'Angelo, Noname, or Lianne La Havas or JPEGMAFIA etc (but VMP rarely cover artists that I'd do a blind buy on)!

The most blind buy purchase for me is purchasing an album based off the strength of a single I really like! But I don't do that as much anymore with artists I'm unfamiliar with.

I posted on reddit about the Vinceron stuff...It got hundreds of upvotes and comments and the mods ended up removing it because Vinceron went in and was insulting anybody who called him a flipper. They ended up deleting my post and banning Vinceron, which is somewhat fair, but VMP still refuses to acknowledge whatever backroom deals VMP has with Vinceron or why they let one person buy hundreds of pressings...

Oh I'm well aware of the band and album...it wasn't a blind buy. I loved the album in high school. It was a nostalgiac/FOMO purchase which I have been largely good about avoiding but that one got me...

Ahhhh gotcha! Nostalgia is definitely something powerful in that kind of sense! I mean, if VMP do Chris Brown or Ne-Yo's debut albums, I'd definitely grab them just for nostalgia reasons alone! 🙈

Ok, so it's basically artists who want to make country "cool" or "alternative" instead of a grassroots folk expression, right? In the end they may sound the same, but they feel like they are approaching the music from a more "artsy" angle.

No. It also includes blues and folk. And if you're an anti-racist, also hip hop.

Its not any more about trying to be cool any than just being a musician is.

Well let me know. I adore the album so maybe we could work something out. 😁

I would actually say actually yes to an extent, but it's not artists who do this, more of the audience. I've never seen so-called "Americana" artists try to distance themselves from their Country, Blues, folk roots and influences or sell themselves as more artsy. And some, like Childers, straight up reject the Americana label (justifiable, especially in his case where he is clearly country).

It's the audience who thinks of Country as stuff like FGL and Luke Bryan and instead of accepting that there are sub-genres, put Americana into it's own category so they can continue to turn their nose up at Country.

Also, occurred to me this morning. An album I'd LOVE to see reissued in Vinyl Me Pardner that I think would also appeal to the VMP customer base at large is 'Monsters of Folk'.
I've been wanting a reissue of that for years, it would be a big get, and could definitely help make people buy in to a sub they may overlook otherwise.
