Day 08: OOH, PRETTY
Your favorite variant/color vinyl
We Lost The Sea - Departure Songs
0400060A-6E0B-425A-86CE-C0FF881D2966.jpeg

Departure Songs is inspired by failed, yet epic and honorable journeys or events throughout history where people have done extraordinary things for the greater good of those around them, and the progress of the human race itself. This is a celebration and a tribute. Each song has it’s own story and is a soundtrack to that story.

The link here goes into greater detail for those curious.

8 days of catch up? HERE WE GO

DAY 1:
Random:
Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
This was random, I’m just rediscovering how much I love this album

DAY 2:
Favorite Album Cover:
The Beatles - Revolver
Look, I know praising the Beatles is a cliche at this point, but something about this album cover is just so fascinating to me.

DAY 3:
Play a 7”
Guy Mitchell - Heartaches By The Number
I would once again like to thank the developers of Fallout: New Vegas for helping me discover some fantastic oldies.

DAY 4:
Play Something Revolutionary:
Dead Prez - Let’s Get Free
Come on, look at that album cover and just tell me you don’t want to go to a protest of some kind!

DAY 5:
Play Something Widely Disliked or Divisive:
Gorillaz - Humanz
I love Gorillaz a LOT, but even the biggest fans felt that this return in 2017 was a bit... lacking. I still really like this album, it’s just not played NEARLY as much as their other albums.

DAY 6:
One Hit Wonder:
Fiona Apple - Tidal
Fiona Apple really only had one major hit, the song Criminal, off her debut album. Kinda copying everyone else but... eh... guess I just wanted another excuse to listen to this one.

DAY 7:
Album by an Artist that hasn’t released new music in a while:
System Of A Down - Hypnotize
Pls make new music System ;_; it’s been 15 years... Tool came back last year why can’t you... *sobs*

Day 8:
Prettiest looking vinyl I own:
Periphery - Periphery IV: Hail Stan
The blue/black/silver/white marble variant of this album from their web store is easily one of the most unique looking records without a doubt (and it seems people agree because this one’s prices on discogs are $$$$$$)

And for good measure, here’s tomorrow:
DAY 9:
An album that grew on me:
Jorge Ben - África Brasil
Initially heard this one was the ROTM from VMP, and immediately decided it wasn’t for me. However, I came back to it a few months later, and I found that Ponta De Lança Africano was able to get stuck in my head pretty easily... and then a good chunk of the other songs on this thing. Yeah, I got it later and love it now.

Day 5 Catch up!

DIFFERENT STROKES

St. Anger ~ Metallica

To me "bad" is all up to taste and the person. I love the feeling this album gives me and the raw anger along with the drum YES I LIKE THE DRUMS. I can hear why people don't like this one, but to me it has some personal ties to my life and I can't ignore that.

Day 6 Catch up!

ONE HIT WONDERLAND

Marcy Playground ~ Marcy Playground

I could write an essay on why this album is amazing, but I would be here all day and I have a few days to still catch up on. I should be all caught up tomorrow! Of course this is a RSD piece, but I am now noticing the subtitle notes in this album thanks to my nice speakers! Of course I will spin the bonus 7" that came with it. I forgot how good this record sounded!!! Easily one of the best in my collection!
