Vinyl Me Please Essentials

mmmm true! I feel like it could be part of the 'experience'. I thought of a relationship, how people experience their most 'happiness' from the connection/joy being with the other person, but when there is a breakup, the person finds it so hard to cope. Like, I kind of want to feel that because I want to know what that happiness feels like. The level of happiness must be so strong for you to be so sad when it takes a bad turn/finishes. That's what came to my mind when you said 'euphoria' then.....'horrible bad turn'! I'm so naive and unexposed though 🙈🙉

I mean Jason Pierce was also, what’s the technical term, smacked up to the eyeballs throughout this period. I don’t think you want to “experience” that...

OMG STOP! This amazing description makes me want to actively try and hit up a drug dealer to get some mushrooms/acid from them! Not that it's a bad thing I guess. I'm just so curious about the euphoria and I want to do psychedelics ! 👀👀👀
Going to try and word this in a way that prevents @Dead C from smiting me but if YOU choose to do psychedelics strictly as a product of your OWN volition may I suggest doing some homework (if you haven’t already) on the deeper effects of the psychedelic state and perhaps anchor your first experience in a nature setting especially if you opt for mushrooms. While the euphoria is certainly a fun part of psychedelics another large and potentially terrifying part of them includes that of ego death/personal dissolution and I found it to be helpful to understand what can bring about those states so I wouldn’t think I’m having a psychotic break when you get swallowed whole by “it”. Acid can last up to 14 hours on a single hit and that’s a long time for an inexperienced psychonaught to be in an altered state of consciousness while being stuck in their parents place! That being said I’ve had incredible experience with acid in that exact setting but I was already pretty experienced with psychedelics at that point. Ended up having a life changing experience listening to To Pimp A Butterfly in full on acid, incredibly beautiful and moving experience but also absolutely terrifying and traumatic at the same time (just like the album lol). Either way, just make sure you’ve done your homework and understand how powerful psychedelics are and they should be treated more as a spiritual vehicle then a party drug or goofy fun time!

Yeah, I’d definitely treat psychedelics as a spiritual vehicle and not a party drug. I’ve never done marijuana, MDMA or any other drug. I haven’t taken any drugs (only alcohol and coffee - but that’s nothing). I’m not that interested in cocaine, marijuana, MDMA etc. I’m interested in Mushrooms and Acid because I want to trip and see things and have a life changing experience, just like you had! I want to also do DMT, that seems like such an interesting drug too! But a close friend said I’d be unable to because I haven’t smoked before (DMT requires you to know how to smoke). None of my friends are interested though in doing any of this, maybe my sister might be, but she’s in her last year of high school, so I’ll wait until she finishes to see if she’s keen!

Thanks for the advice! It’s great advice and I’ll remember what you’ve said Ghost! I’m going to definitely try and do mushrooms and Acid this summer, a beautiful lake not too far from my house!

I'm not sure about that. If they're reissuing it outside of VMP, why would a VMP version be Essentials worthy? More likely that it's a color variant that VMP overcharges for.

I’m glad I didn’t bet you, I was wrong.

also... buena vista social club is not doing much for me... it looks like a cool story and the music is decent. but it also feels super standard, mostly because i heard its impact more than others and its not as big an "OH SHIT IT WILL SELL OUT ASAP" as say queens or the roots were... spiritualized is the only album i really want in the next 3 months...

BVSC is fantastic music. I hate VMP’s guts but I’m considering dipping back in to pick it up for <$30.

In for Prince Paul, Blossom Dearie and McCoy Tyner (though I still might cancel Tyner, it’s FOMO as of right now, jazz piano just isn’t my thing)

“Jazz piano” is not a very good description of that kind of music IMO. This is not Bill Evans Live at the Vanguard or solo Erroll Garner. It’s an intense hard bop album that happens to have a pianist as the leader.

Here’s a question, Kate Radley, his former bandmate and muse, inspired most of the heartbreak after she left him. Her new partner wrote another huge 97 hit from one of the other critically acclaimed UK rock albums of 97. Can you name the other band and the song?

God '97 was such an insane year for British rock records. These two plus OK Computer, Vanishing Point, The Fat of the Land, Be Here Now, Blur, Radiator, In It For the Money, Attack of the Grey Lantern, Songs from Northern Britain...the list is endless!

i guess i just dont understand latin music as much as other people, because i enjoy the album but it just feels like generic version of the term latin music
