Day 25: An artist you haven’t seen live but would love to be able to

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Chunky Shrapnel

I feel pretty lucky here, because I’ve seen quite a few of the bands on other people’s lists. As I’m sure others have seen the band I’ve listed.

I, actually, have tickets to see them in October this year, but I really really doubt that concert will happen. The concert was originally scheduled for April, but our state’s lockdown will last until Winter it seems. Oh well, better to have people safe.
And they just put out this live album. Solely to tide me over I’m assuming. Haha. 0B29BF9B-0DAD-45C3-8CF4-8A50078F2811.jpeg

Day 25: An artist you haven’t seen live but would love to be able to

Tom Waits ‎– Rain Dogs (Island Records, 1985 First Pressing)

I often say that I wish that I had the opportunity to see Tom Waits live. He's the kind of person who doesn't really care for publicity or fame and therefore his live performances always seem to be incredibly genuine and formulated in a way which he wants them to be. There's certainly no compromises made in order to make a bit of extra money or to please certain people. Unfortunately, it does not seem as though he is likely to ever tour again, with his last tour being in 2008 and him publicly stating he has no intentions of doing it again. Its a shame as I consider myself to be quite the fan of Waits and would love to have seen him, but unfortunately I just wasn't aware of his music back in 2008, and it would of no doubt of gone over my teenage head! At least we have a fantastic collection of albums and live recordings to listen to!

Day 25: Wish I’d Seen / Hope to See Live

Going for a twofer here: my first impulse was to pick a deceased or retired artist, but my wife pointed out that the OP implies that I should choose an artist that is still active (“would love to see live”).

First I spun my favorite (and IMO best) Bowie album:

I probably could’ve caught Bowie live during one of his last tours. At that time he was still putting out albums regularly, so I didn’t expect I would never have a chance to see him down the line.

As for an artist I still hope to see live, I’m happy that Donald Fagen has vouched to keep Steely Dan going even without Walter Becker. Aja may be their greatest and best album, but this one here is probably my personal favorite:

I was finally going to mark Steely Dan off my list in June. At least the put the tour off a year, rather than cancel it.

Neil Young - Live At The Cellar Door

Neil Young is amazing live. I would have loved to catch him live in the late 1960’s or early 1970 at a small club solo acoustic performance. I also would have loved to attend one of his mid-1970s arena show backed by Crazy Horse or the Stray Gators. I really could watch Neil play anywhere at anytime and probably be a very happy camper.

Day 23: An underrated gem

This vinyl release of this doesn't have all the tracks that you can find in digital, but it's still great. I definitely believe this group is underrated, but I don't have vinyl of their main project (Small Circle of Friends). So here is this one from their instrumental and beat project STUDIO75.

Forgot to post yesterday.

Side A is weird but side B is better. Fictional soundtrack to a Bollywood Movie.

The Coachella show left me speechless and wishing I was there. Just fantastic.

Day 25: An artist you haven’t seen live but would love to be able to

My wife, @VegasJaneite and I were supposed to see Wilco last month and well, you know how that played out. Fortunately our city is still on the reschedule list, for now. Now my wife has already seen them and I could have easily chosen another band to lament over, but with a 5 1/2 year old, we don’t get to see as many shows as we used to. I haven’t seen them but any opportunity to see a concert with my wife is the best, so I’m looking forward to that rescheduled date(fingers crossed) even more.

Day 25 - Artist you’d love to see live

My number one choice at this point is Pharoah. He still plays a few shows a year—once in a while in Chicago—but the stars haven’t lined up for me yet. There’s still time, but he’s getting pretty frail and who knows how much time he has left.

Honorable mention goes to Sturgill and the Meat Puppets. I was supposed to see each this spring, but they were virus casualties. Hopefully they still pan out in the future.

Day 25: Artist You'd Love to See Live
Radiohead-Amnesiac

Easily the #1 show I haven't gotten the chance to see yet. I did see Thom solo once, though. It's very rare for them to come to Milwaukee, and hard to make travel plans as quickly as their tickets sell out... hopefully they haven't done their rumored last tour, and can catch them on the next!IMG_20200525_123315.jpg
