TL;DR - All clubs in the Bundesliga are majority fan owned. Red Bull bought a club from a lower tier in 2009 with their executive staff being majority owners. Technically that is fan owned but it's more/less a marketing arm of Red Bull. Everyone in Germany hates them because of the corporate involvement. They even created a new name to justify the "RB" as "RasenBallsport Leipzig" which is just bullshit when it clearly is Red Bull.

Isn’t that a bundesliga rule that a clubs name can’t have a sponsor or owners name in it? Why should they change it for Red Bull? Because they have the deepest pockets? I think you’ll find plenty articles arguing the opposite point too, I’m not an enormous fan of the idea of Red Bull having a bunch of clubs across cities existing in a symbiotic co-dependent relationship. Neither am I comfortable with them rocking up and taking over existing clubs and subsuming their identities with their corporate branding. Sport in Europe, and particular football, does not have a culture of franchises like you do in American sport. Clubs initially tend to grow organically out of their communities.

I’m not saying they should change it to Red Bull, it’s just ridiculous that they made something up to stand for “RB” when it’s obviously Red Bull. It’s like they’re hiding in plain sight with all they’re doing with the club, pumping in money, but technically they’re clear to do so. It’s just morally rubbing a lot of Bundesliga fans the wrong way.
 
I've never really gotten into the Bundesliga but that's clearly going to change.

Who are you going to pick to support? Germany is my main support in international football so I admittedly support Bayern, I really love Thomas Muller too.

But also, finally something that's available to watch on US tv/Fox Sports compared to whatever Russian website was airing The Belarus Premier League.

There is concern about social distancing measures not being followed too. Kalou suspended after flouting distancing rules

Not sure. Since I've seen them play Liverpool twice (winning both times) in the US, probably Dortmund. Plus you have the Klopp angle. Though that seems a bit of a fashionable bandwagon. But if I were doing this in a way that makes a claim or tie-in more legitimate, I'd go with Eintracht Frankfurt since our family line goes back to just outside Frankfurt until we left for the New World in the mid 1700s. More than likely, I'll just see which one grabs me that's not named Bayern Munich.

I really hope they can do this safely and not have any players, staff, or workers that come down with Covid. Just to give us some hope that other leagues and sports can return in the near future. Again, not a priority but I'd love to have some mindless sports on my TV. I miss those lazy Saturday and Sunday mornings with the EPL.

I don’t know what to do anymore on the weekend morning so I’ve just been doing laundry earlier in the day, vacuuming, and other house chores. I’ve tried to tune in to the NBCSN coverage of Re-airs but the montage of classic games instead of the full matches is dumb.

Yeah this is the big thing for me too. I don't really have a high level soccer team that I'm a huge fan of (I defer to BVB when they're on TV in the US, but don't go out of my way) like other sports, but I miss the ritual of waking up before my wife to watch a match with a cup of coffee and a record more than just about any other thing to do with sports.
 
I was this close 👌 from buying a Bayern kit. I shouldn't get too excited because it may not go to planned and they may bin the season after a few weeks if too many players get infected, or it could go exceedingly well and the rest of Europe's top leagues will follow suit soon. Also it's going to be really, really difficult to support a red team. I hate the color red and have never been a fan of any team that wears it. It's partly why back in 2017 I chose to support Spurs over Arsenal (I had no real context at the time lol) because of the team colors.

yeah they have some really nice third ones. The away are usually boring white or grey colors. I was going to bite the bullet and buy the home. It would have been about $78 for a player printed one with shipping, versus the third going for $90 minimum without customization or shipping. The home is actually quite nice. A lot of previous seasons have pinstripe stripes which I think look horrible.

 
The production value will hopefully get better. They really need to pump in some crowd noise, chants, or add something that makes this seem less like a rec game. From the player's perspective, probably isn't weird for them given the amount of scrimmaging they do. But yeah, this is our sports reality for a while.

I think the NBA will see this and go full speed ahead. At least with those games, you can put in all the artificial noise and music that's a staple of those games. Even with baseball, you can have the organ playing and walk up music.
