The football thread RenegadeMonster is looking for: NFL talk

I was looking forward to that rematch. Sheesh. I'm actually glad the season is over for the Saints if that is how they were going to play. They made me nervous all season, I couldn't just settle in. I contrast that with my feelings about the USWNT and the Nats. Those 2 teams just had something really special that was palpable. They knew they were going to win and they just went out and did their thing. The Saints did not have that. I will say this though: it was quite a remarkable season for them given that Drew was out for 5 games. Lots of records broken. But something just wasn't clicking.
I like the Saints. Definitely the only other team I would have wanted to come out of the NFC

As a Lions fan, I (almost) always watch the playoffs without a team in the hunt. It's way more fun, no stress!
I enjoyed watching all four games this weekend, I was pulling for The Saints though.
Moving forward, I'm hoping we'll see another four competitive games this weekend.

Wow, I really thought the NFC was going to be won by the Saints. Huh.

Man, how great would it be to have the Ravens and Chiefs in one conference championship, and the Niners and Seahawks in the other? Would be a couple of great games to watch!

Those would be some really great games. Or Niners and Packers.

I thought the Saints would win the NFC and then lose in the SB. But heck. What do I know???

I didn't mind the 9ers until their fans were dicks when I was there. They need their egos checked in the playoffs.
Meh, I think there are bad apple fans for every team. I took a rabid Packers fan to the game this year and she was shocked at house nice everyone was to her even though she was decked out in Packers gear. And pretty sure @BazookaTooth was treated fairly well at the Browns game this year.

yeah, had a bunch of jerks infront of me but the guy next to me was decent enough. before the game i had no trouble at all and Niners fans were friendly and curious about the Browns. at this point they didnt know how good they were going to be i assume.
obviously i had the bonus of not being from the US and people thought how awesome it was that i came all the way from Monsta Island to see the Browns play and to meet @tvham

Also, is it just me or did it seem like the Saints really botched the last 40 or so seconds of that game? They could've called a timeout with 30 or so seconds, or not taken the 10 second run-off with the timeout. They didn't do any of that. Just seemed like a very non-Saints thing to do. They usually go for the win.

I love shit talking with sports as much as everybody, but we were literally laughed out of that stadium. Loud laughs as we were all getting out of our seats, "go the fuck home" chants, and getting right in my gf and I's faces as we were walking down from our seats.."now go enjoy your fucking Thanksgiving" was a good one. Wouldn't have minded it all if it was an actual good game where we could banter back and forth, but sucks when you're sitting there quiet all game. Just something I've never experienced from other away games I've been too. I know the experience can be different for everybody, but that's mine that will stick with me for awhile.

SKOL Vikes! I like being an underdog because we seem to play much better when we are not the favorites. Bring on the Niners. After beating the Saints in Nola, I know we have the ability to beat any NFC team.
I'm going on a vacation with a bunch of Vikings fans starting Saturday and it's going to be a looooong week if they beat the Niners. My mother-in-law sent me a bragging text the second the Eagles lost yesterday.

Yep, as a Vikings fan, I know how insufferable we can be. We really have some terrible fans. That's why as much as I hate losing to the Packers, I have a tough time hating the fans because they are usually very accommodating at Lambeau (maybe because their true rival is the Bears).

OK, you said it first.

The Vikings fans in the DC area are some of my least favorite fans. Too many run ins with them for no reason. I hate playing the Vikings because of it. And unfortunately it makes me hate the Vikings.

Also: Giants fans. Ugh. GET. OVER. YOURSELVES.

And yes, of course, those generalizations don't apply to all fans. And definitely not to any of our N&G peeps. Just to those fans *gestures out the window* out there.

NFC - DR
VIkings over 49ers = I want the DC of the 49ers as the head coach of the browns, early exit gives us my guy faster
Seahawks over GB = Like both of these teams, I'm happy no matter who wins

AFC - DR
Titans over Ravens
Chiefs over texans = Houston has won enough (Asstros) also Mahomes is a TTU alum, so Wreck'em Tech

Vikings have definitely been the main rival since the Favre and Rodgers era. I was at the one in Lambeau this year, and hoping to get to Minneapolis for one next year. I think the division rival fans have a lot more fun with each other cause it's been back and forth so much. I had a great time at Wrigley last summer. Also planning on taking a NOLA trip if that game next season falls on a good date.

Ok well honestly, the USWNT Olympic qualifying matches start up at the end of Jan. So I'll be abandoning this sport for that soon enough and will not care one whit who wins it all here.

Is that better? ;)
WOOT!!! USWNT is a team I can get behind, and they don't disappoint...unlike OTHER TEAMS we will not name...

Yes, but did you beat the Saints, or did they beat themselves? They played terribly. At the end of the game, I was yelling at the TV to just put Taysom in at QB. Something was really broken yesterday.

If you come down, you'll have to look some of us NOLA peeps up. I haven't been record hunting in the city in quite a while.
