Been on an XTC kick recently. Last two of the recent REs I hadn’t grabbed - Black Sea & Dukes...25 O’Clock

Just need REs of Mummer, Drums & Wires, Nonsuch and Oranges & Lemons (which seem like ApeHouse will do eventually)

Some Walmart finds today! Pretty cool Star Wars 7", listed as a "commemorative edition" for the end of the Skywalker Saga. Plays at 33 1/3 RPM. Been trying to get the Saint Asonia CD since it came out a few weeks ago! Walmart exclusive with two bonus tracks. Cool stuff!

Grabbed a few things recently. And if you can’t tell, I’m at target a lot lol

I couldn’t pass up this clearance deal. Only $12.48!View attachment 21941

then I was visiting my parents and stopped by an old store I used to go to for my CDs back in the day since they have vinyl now too and grabbed this.

Overall, I’ve got me some listening to do!
How is the sound quality on that Motown? I looked but couldn't find any details?

Ambient pickups:

Carlos Maria Trindade / Nuno Canavarro - Mr. Wollogallu
Ernest Hood - Neighborhoods
Sunn O))) - Pyroclasts
Tim Hecker - Virgins

Mr. Wollogallu
is a two-part album made by two Portuguese musicians. The music of CMT lies on side A, sounding very opulent and classy with plenty of acoustic guitar segments and strings laced in the tracks. Side B contains Canavarro's work, which sounds more tribal and organic with flute and vibraphone, piano, and even flugelhorn! Another fantastic recommendation from Musique Plastique (can't say enough about that store) that provides international variety to my library.
I was glad to see Ernest Hood's moog synth masterpiece get reissued, as Hood himself is from Portland! The recordings were all done in Sellwood, Oregon during a time of youth (children's voices are a recurring theme and sound here), and feels very organic, like stepping outside and enjoying a pleasant day. If you at all like Mort Garson's Plantasia, definitely give this a shot. Sounds incredible, too.
Recently picked up Sunn O)))'s Life Metal, so I figured I'd get their other release from this year as well. Pyroclasts is much shorter than Life Metal, and the energy harnessed within feels much more brooding and reserved than its brother.
Saw Virgins in the electronic section while shopping during the 20% off all vinyl sale at Music Millennium in Portland, and had to nab it. Seminal ambient classic, most would say. I can see why; like walking through a museum of art.

Other grabs:

clipping. - CLPPNG
clipping. - There Existed an Addiction to Blood
Lingua Ignota - All Bitches Die
Lizzo - Cuz I Love You

Expanding my experimental hip-hop collection with the clipping. records. It was extra nice to see a copy of the blood-splatter vinyl for There Existed an Addiction to Blood at 2nd Avenue Records in Portland on the shelves, when I thought they were long gone everywhere.
It is great to have both major works of Kristin Hayter (A.K.A. Lingua Ignota) on wax before seeing her and Daughters next month. Unrelenting and unforgiving, her music is powerful and demands the listener be isolated from other distractions.
Lizzo ended up being a guilty pleasure grab. Her music is simply fun and empowering.

Never thought I would see Carlos Maria Trindade / Nuno Canavarro - Mr. Wollogallu on this forum :) Great grab!

What @Skalap said. I really love this album as well. I discovered them through the growing bin blog that I sometimes look at when I want some new music. Was it you that recently purchased the Aqueduct Ensemble pick up? Another one i came across via growing bin. I think you'll like the site - a lot of rare/expensive stuff that he digs up but it's at least fun to get an idea of new music. you're in the

A slew of fresh grabs. Perhaps most excited by this 12 LP box set for Miles Davis featuring his complete (early) Prestige recordings.

A couple of De Agostini jazz releases

REM, a new Xmas discovery for me from Cara Dillon, the one Low Anthem song I *love*, and a groovy French PIF from @ChristoBee 😍

I only have the 4x -in' releases of Miles from the Prestige era so thought this was a pretty good way of picking up the rest. Think I got it for about €70 incl postage off Discogs so thought that was pretty decent for 12 LPs. Certainly better than VMP! No real extras at all though and no album covers etc. Just plenty of great music...

Yeah thats a great price, like you said its the music thats the key! I will add it to my list, I have a decent number of Miles records now that spans his career but im still miles (forgive the pun) away from a full collection. He just released soooo many albums!

Is there any order to the track listing? I see that 'Dig' is on there (presumably from the album of the same name with Sonny Rollins on sax) but the following tracks dont line up with that which is on the rest of the album. If that makes sense?

They're in chronological order of the sessions as recorded, not as released, so no doubt that messes around a bit with things. Also I saw from Discogs that one song is repeated when you're meant to get two different takes but at that price I wasn't too bothered. I'll let you know once I've spent some time with it what I think...

Yep I bought the Aqueduct Ensemble record at Musique Plastique! I will look at the site you linked...thank you @uvwxVinyl! :)

Big day in the Selaws household:

Jutta Hipp ‎– At The Hickory House Volume 1 (Blue Note, 1955 First Mono Pressing, Lexington, Deep Groove, etc)

This is the biggy, a first mono pressing of one of my favourite Blue Note pianists albums!!

IMG_9786.JPG

Clifford Brown And Max Roach ‎– Study In Brown (EmArcy, 1955 First Canadian Mono Pressing)
Miles Davis ‎– Volume 1 (Blue Note, 1958 2nd Mono Pressing)

A couple of cheapish ebay wins. Really happy with them, the Miles has a bit of cover damage but the record looks great!

Miyasaka + 5 ‎– Animals Garden (BBE J Jazz Masterclass Series, 2019 pressing)
Looking forward to spinning this, I have streamed it a few times since its release and its fantastic!

HHV coming through with some exclusives and a really cheap deal on the Robohands record.

IMG_20191114_222134.jpg

The colour on the Makaya record looks really nice! I'm not too sure what to make of the Kamaal Williams - it was a bit of an impulse buy but to me seems like it isn't really a dj album and not a jazz album. I might return it :/
