Swaps closed. That is all.
I went and scored a black copy of Caribou's 'Swim' for $18 shipped on Discogs. Don't need the variant but def. need the album!I succumbed and got Spoon because I don't already have it. Caribou is really good too but a bit too much for me at $34, I don't think I'd spin it enough to justify it.
I might need to do that as well at some point, I do really like the album. Unfortunately, now I need to pay my student loan so might have to wait a paycheck or two .I went and scored a black copy of Caribou's 'Swim' for $18 shipped on Discogs. Don't need the variant but def. need the album!
Yeah if spoon doesn’t make it to swaps then I’ll swap for caribou potentially, I’m between swapping for kingfish, swim, or spoon if it’s in swapsI get so confused by who determines the pressing quantities. The Caribou album is great, don’t get me wrong. By the style of music is definitely more difficult to crack than say Spoon, a classic indie rock band and arguably their most well known record (and most accessible imo). 1000 for Caribou and 500 for Spoon, seems backwards.
Reminds we of when they only pressed 500 Broken Social Scene (YFIIP, maybe one of the 5-10 most important indie rock records ever, sold out in like 6 hours) and 1000 Stars (SYoF, a great record in its own right, but still).
However, 1000 Caribou at $34 basically guarantees it for swaps at some point (I would imagine), which would be great.
Caribou is the first VMP exclusive I've bought in a.... it's been so long I can't remember. I have the standard black vinyl and it sounds really, really good. Very stoked to see what RTI can do with it. Anyone on the fence, please jump off and buy it - as others have said, it no doubt should've been an "Essentials" pick.
Yeah, Caribou should make it to swaps because of that price tag! I’m happy they’ve pressed 1,000 copies so then a lot of people get to enjoy this intoxicating, luxurious, labaratory-like albumI get so confused by who determines the pressing quantities. You regret hearing Caribou’s “Swim” because you want the VMP exclusive but can’t afford it?Of the three records there, Swim is (regrettably) the only one I've heard but it's very much an A-tier album for me. Love me some Caribou.
What do you mean you have no intention on keeping Notorious B.I.G.’s Ready to Die long term? Do you think you aren’t going to like hip-hop when you’re around 50 years old as it’ll be too much for your ears/mentality?Swaps just closed for me, it seems. I went back and forth on Angel Olsen's All Mirrors and Isley Brothers' Go For Your Guns and ended up picking Angel Olsen, after thinking about my record purchasing philosophy. I also selected Ready to Die early as an add-on which I have NO intention of keeping long-term.
EDIT: changed a few words
Heh - I regret that I haven't heard the other twoYou regret hearing Caribou’s “Swim” because you want the VMP exclusive but can’t afford it?
Ahhhhh it makes sense now that I read it properly! In my head, I never imagine people saying they regret not hearing an album/song. It’s always the opposite, like people wishing they never heard somethingHeh - I regret that I haven't heard the other two
Def going to flip itWhat do you mean you have no intention on keeping Notorious B.I.G.’s Ready to Die long term? Do you think you aren’t going to like hip-hop when you’re around 50 years old as it’ll be too much for your ears/mentality?
BUT IS SPOON SEXY?Yeah, Caribou should make it to swaps because of that price tag! I’m happy they’ve pressed 1,000 copies so then a lot of people get to enjoy this intoxicating, luxurious, labaratory-like album
Also, I imagine Caribou’s “Swim” selling more copies than Spoon’s “Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga”, just because I think VMP’s audience would listen to more Caribou kinda music than Spoon kinda music.
So hyped to get this Caribou exclusive and spin it and become immersed in its trippy world!
BUT IS SPOON SEXY?
