Same as Lee...
Once again, I did not pick up on the connection of the purple category - they were simply the last 4 choices.

I'm always interested in HOW someone gets an answer. I saw this on twitter last night:

And, it was fascinating how people solved it in different ways.

I am glad I don’t have kids. My brother who is a first grade teacher tried to show me how new math works and I don’t know if I have ever felt dumber in my whole life.
My kids are older (will turn 28 & 30 this fall) but much of the math homework they had in elementary school made no sense to me, and that was 20+/- years ago. Fortunately, both went into the accelerated math program in middle school, and everything seemed a lot more "normal" to me then. My youngest ended up majoring in math in college, so those early years of dumbshittery didn't ruin her aptitude.

After taking advanced math in college for engineering, if you asked me to solve a Fourier series right now I would have an aneurism.

I didn’t really have a problem with new math until my daughter got to vectors and arrays and they changed the definitions of what those were and I was like I’m out. Also no fun when she got to calculus and I was like… well there was a time I could have solved this but I don’t even know where to begin kid.
