L'J IV - An Elizabethan Songbook (CBS, 1969 First Pressing)

The cover art and concept for this album seems cheesy, a reworking of traditional Elizabethan compositions as modern jazz, however it works incredibly well and sounds pretty damn impressive. Really great. This used to be a mega rarity (it still is quite sought after) but weirdly it's actually become more available in recent years. I was chatting to someone the other day that was a British jazz collector 'back in the day' and he was saying that this used to go for £200+ as it just never appeared. I just bought a second copy (for trade) online for £20 so times really have changed  🤣

Ugh, why ya doin’ this to me, My original pressing is supposed to be good enough, especially with the new pressing listed for damn near $50.
Sorry! My local had it for $35.99, which seemed kind of like the going price for 2LP these days. So, probably a lot of markup - not sure I’d pay a ton more for it. The “Sun Sessions” demos didn’t blow me away - pretty similar to the album tracks.
