Big Brother & The Holding Company - Cheap Thrills
Rob - Funky Rob Way
Just hit the Janis Joplin section and it's scorching. Plus, one of my very favourite west African releases in the odd alternative cover Analog Africa chose when they first released this.
Donald Fagen – The Nightfly (Warner Bros, 1982 First German Pressing)
First time of listening to this album. It's not blown me away, unfortunately. Its good, but I cant quite connect to it in the same way that some people seem to. Might have to give it a couple more listens in the week and see if it grows on me.
Bob Dylan - Blind Willie McTell
Otis Redding - Merry Christmas Baby
The Cleaners From Venus - The Very Best Of
One of my favourite Dylan songs on two (previously unheard) versions, probably the only singer who can make me happy to hear a Christmas song in September, and a 1980s English indie band with Beatles influences that could have been the godfathers to the Britpop scene if anybody had ever heard of them (they really are great though - A Mercury Girl is just fabulous).
The Verocai is 1/2 speed mastered and sounds wonderful (I know that's not true of all 1/2 speed mastered but it is of this). A really stunning album. And an old master from Mali puts out beautiful acoustic blues.
