What's Spinning

These 2 albums were among the formative albums for me during the first couple of years that I really started getting into rap as a kid. My DMX CD got worn out by me & my friends. And the Black Rob album came out during the year that I moved halfway across the country away from all of my friends and a lot of my family. I spent most of that year with my discman & headphones. Also, Guru passed away 11 years ago today, and despite being years since their last release, I was still listening to plenty of Gang Starr at the time (and still do to this day).

I've not really been affected by death much before in my life. But after losing my dog last month and knowing & preparing myself for it even months before, these deaths along with Doom & Double K just months ago have been hitting me kind of differently and have me just reflecting on life. It's crazy to think how much music (and rap specifically) has been a part of (and shaped) my life.
