Would you say this LP is a good entry point for Orchestre Poly-Rythmo? Looks the new reissue is pretty cheap/easy to get.

Yes, I would. They tended to make music in two ways - shorter singles and longer album tracks. This is my favourite of the latter eg the first side is one track of ca 16 mins. The compilation just reissued on Superfly is maybe the best example of the 3/4 min singles. They're both excellent, but different. Their longer songs like on this one are more jams that are allowed to stretch out and breath. So either this or the Superfly record (or both!) are excellent introductions.
