Aretha Franklin - Aretha Now
I may prefer Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac but Rumours is a pretty perfect album, as is Aretha Now, my last dalliance with VMP (and only cos the first copy was in typical fashion damaged).

This was supposed to be an RSD release earlier in the year but they released it early. Really great album and technically the first the label released as part of the 5ive series.

It punched way above expectations. Drummer, saxophone, turntablist and some spoken word -- it was exactly the sort of set you might have caught at the Knitting Factory in NY in the mid/late 90s. Good avant garde and where you walked out going "wow, WTF that was great"... and exactly the record that you tried to play for friends and they thought you were crazy. I love this hobby. I still need to do the Google...
