there is truth to this.i think people just like to complain haha. releases aren't "essential" enough. VMP doesn't do enough "lost sounds found" type releases, etc.

Nilsson sings Newman had the speakers corner and the analog spark, which are both easily found too when I last looked on discogs. I think you'd be surprised at how some of these labels work for reissues. I know Intervention has tried to get certain titles from artists and were unable to either for the price or the labels just straight up said "no".I mean I guess that’s one thing if you are printing every other album by the artist. I get them not doing Schmilson because there are a million pressings but on what planet is the label like well give you this many of this one and this one but forget it on this one and this one….
i meant that it's cheaper because they seem to have the codes every month. you're right though--forgot how much the store versions of Nilsson were because I think I ended up paying $22 a piece in sales if not less.I still don’t understand this line from you. With a code yeah but their exclusives are almost always higher priced than an add on.
It seems more likely that the licensing cost enough that they don’t want to shorten their margins. Which is fine.
this also definitely happens. i don't disagree that some of it is "this tells the best story"-- i just don't think that's the only reason why it was chosen. And the easiest answer is usually the right answer, they often make bizarre choices cause they want to…
Now that’s Essential Nilsson.Nilsson Sings Newman exclusive drop this week on wednesday.

them doing Nilsson Pussycats in essentials doesn't bother me because it's not like they are only doing that album and ignoring all his other work. the only people it really affects is VMP themselves, when they are stuck with copies of it for years.
so you're saying it IS essentialI mean it’s the album you buy for €2 from Record City as part of a big order for completionism! They have so many copies of this one lol.

Our Joe. Never change.
Wait till you’re 50+! A whole new level of grumpiness awaitsI’ve made it 40 years so far. I’m only getting grumpier from here on in
I mean I get it from a story telling perspective. It is not a very good album and fairly universal seen as a not very good album. It is strictly in the diehard/sadist voyeur category not essential. Either you have to have every Nilsson or you also have Charlie Manson’s album. Edit: it occurs to me that Venn diagram might be a circle and well they did sell Manson in their shop back in the day.
20% off could be worth more than $85 depending on how much you buy!Taking the 20% off code instead of $85 and the record was a good deal.
I've been away and out of the loop during this, but I did see I had a 20% off code in my emails for swapping the R&HH track last month.Taking the 20% off code instead of $85 and the record was a good deal.
They oversold ODB and were trying to soften the blow.I've been away and out of the loop during this, but I did see I had a 20% off code in my emails for swapping the R&HH track last month.
Whats the story behind this?
And a 20% off coupon didn’t entice people enough because they just had a 40% off in stock saw for a month. So some people still didn’t get ODB this month. Those people were given $85 in store creditThey oversold ODB and were trying to soften the blow.
