Elton John ~ Petco Park San Diego 5/9/2025

Elton played a rare post-retirement show last night to benefit the Curebound Cancer Research foundation. Given that I hadn't seen him before, was a pretty easy decision, esp when the cheap seats (we were at the very top row of the stadium) were way cheaper than his farewell tour stop here. He sounded great, really enjoyed the show. Really interesting seating too, only about 1/2 the stadium was full and the field was all (very expensive) tables.

And as a Cancer near-misser (had 2/3 of my colon removed due to pre-cancerous growths) this serves as a good reminder for a PSA to get your colonoscopy when your doctor says its time. Take it from me and my semi-colon.

We were in Canada to see Pearl Jam in Sept 2022, had tix for Hamilton & Toronto with an off night in between. Elton was playing at Rogers Centre that night and I bought cheap tix on the train from Hamilton to Toronto.

Our first time seeing him, he was on my must see list. Incredible show, so glad we got to go.

I'll add to the love for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds recent performances. I think this is the 5th time seeing him and fantastic again, First time at Theater of the Clouds in Portland, and it wasn't my favorite venue but it sounded decent and had a little build out that he was able to really work the crowd. He commented on the weirdness of the venue too (its the Moda Center partially closed off so that it holds around 5000). Only complaint was a few too many songs of the new record but I totally understand that's how it works.
