The Official Needles and Grooves 1001 Album Generator Project (aka Preachin’ about the Preachers if today’s selection sucks)

Hey @Yer Ol' Uncle D how much of Neil’s Horse output is just crazy ass first take recordings? Is what they did here why he took the same approach with Promise of the Real?
Don't know an exact number but with Crazy Horse, I'd expect it to be high. At their heart and soul, no matter the era, they're just a bunch of kids cranking it out in their parents' garage.

The '86 tour acknowledged and embraced that...

I gotta watch them perform this album in its entirety at Pitchfork one year. Great album, which they would reissue the vinyl at some point.
I just started listening and was like, I bet this is something TLK, @jamieanderson1968 and @Yer Ol' Uncle D can tell us all about. Enjoying it so far. I think I have a Sebadoh album that Joyful Noise sent me as an extra on CD somewhere. I knew the first song so it must have been somewhat popular at the time. I’ve yet to dig into Dinosaur Jr either so this is just another step in me probably falling down that rabbit hole eventually.

Yup. Great album by Lou Barlow. Surprised it is on the list but happy it is. If you enjoy this, also check out Folk Implosion

Those early pitchforks where they had the night of album sets were the best. Saw this one that year too and it’s always been a favorite since
Yeah, gotta see Liquid Sword, Daydream Nation, Spiderland, It Takes A Nation of Millions, and Vs. all performed in their entirety too. I would assume most will be on this list and for most of these shows were my introduction to these albums. I was aware of them but hadn’t really given them any time until I knew I would be see them performed live.

It’s very sophisticated and points to the dudes’ broadway success later. It is very smart. I do miss songs that make you dance and it does feel a little long. Feels like it was paving the way for Sarah Brightman to have some crossover success at the turn of the following decade.

It is a better album than the other one and not being at all what I want from ABBA, I am conflicted on if I would return to it. I may just try to listen to everything by them this weekend.
