Yes, you can use Roon or 99% of streamers’ own software. But the Connect feature is a much smoother process and the streaming platform controls the delivery straight to the device.

It also fixes some of the weird bugs in the other companies software - I have a playlist with about 800 songs in it, and my KEF software only pulls the first 500. Connect will let me push the entire playlist without any issue.

This would have been the primary benefit I had with BluOS, the app is buggy and slow with Qobuz. Roon fixed all that and does a lot more. I don’t think I would like streaming quite as much without Roon at this point.

Had Qobuz Connect exited 3-4 years ago I may have never tried Roon.

At this point, I’m down the Roon rabbit hole and like the ease of seamlessly using my local FLAC collection and Roon. I’m also a fan of Arc when I’m out and about.
