Danvers is telling Pete about the last case she worked with Navarro. At the end she says to Pete that by the time they got to the place (murder-suicide spot - I forget names) that both were already. But the flashback only shows the woman dead and the dude whistling or whatever in a chair w/ Navarro and Danvers pointing guns. Please help my smooth brain out: is the implication that one of them killed the guy (i.e. on-the-spot justice)?

Oh...and if that is the implication, which one do you think meted out the justice for which the other (presumably) was not comfortable, hence the falling out.

I watched it last night...

I thought the same thing - one of them killed him and the other was pissed. Danvers strikes me as the more by-the-book cop so I'll hazard a guess that it was Navarro that shot him

I'm watching this season but not loving it. It's just ok. Maybe it's me, but this season isn't moving me much, or creeping me out.

Funny thing: I assumed he was dead and Danvers had some hallucination or (more likely imo atm) was remembering the man whistling Twist and Shout as an artistic indicator that she was haunted by what she found there. I mean, this is a show where a crime scene was pointed out by a ghost only seen by one person, and an episode where a man unable to stop screaming in pain suddenly sits up and delivers a message in a Monster Voice, also only seen by one person. In typical TD form, the supernatural elements come with a plausible deniability.

Reading y'alls' opinions and thinking back, there was no blood or weapon near him, so I'm starting to lean towards the murder you're describing. But then I want to know why/how Twist and Shout just happens to be playing during the most haunting moments of Danvers' life.

I was initially hooked but I'm starting to cross my arms and wonder where this is going. The individual cops' stories are a little thin (they kinda just boil down to "tough and determined"), and I'm starting to feel like we're going to get several episodes of brooding with light developments on the investigation, culminating in a reveal and an ending. I don't really speculate or follow the investigation closely when I watch detective/noir shows, so the color and incidence of the investigation is more important to me than the unveiling of clues, and once you get past the setting and culture, there's not much here.

Pretty much where I am at with this as well. Not sure where it is going with only 3 eps left. Felt like it touched on the hocus pocus voodoo stuff as a call back for fans or something. That and so many of the main characters are not pleasant and I really don’t care if they live or die from a random polar bear attack.

Not hating it, just not connecting with it like the other seasons. Will still watch it happily

It's hard (for me, anyway) not to compare it to other seasons. S1 had me all-in and excited to see each episode as it aired.
But I agree, it's quality TV.

I think we'll watch Masters of the Air next. Or maybe For All Mankind.

I really enjoyed the first two episodes of Masters of Air. I think I am gonna watch em again before the 3rd episode drops on Friday.

Yes. Navarro is my guess based on the way Danvers is acting with her, but also she didn't rat her out because the guy still deserved the justice. But nothing is ever that clear on this show is it?

Yup, that would be my guess too on who did the deed. Navarro seems to have a keen of justice that is a priori to legality, if that makes sense.

Alright so I'm watching The Last Man on Earth. It was a good cast - Kristen Schaal and Will Forte really hold it down. I also love all the little guest stars - Jon Hamm getting shot and having a total of like 60 seconds of screen time (and shot by January Jones, at that! love the easter egg) has total George Clooney on South Park vibes.

But for anyone who has watched the show, I am toward the end of S03 and Erica is giving birth and Tandy just wants to be is usual idiot helpful self. Erica says how she misses Phil and Tandy says I know just what to do and goes off. Alright, so he returns with a Phil mask on; but dammit if I was expecting him to show up in blackface.
 
ok i finished The Curse. And while I appreciate how surreal the ending is, its just feels like they upended (literally) the show and changed the tone of it. Not sure how I feel about that. Well, I'm just glad Whitney didn't birth a chicken or something stupid.

Update: I have started it and am really enjoying it too. Just a better vibe and tone than I anticipated. Also seems like some of the Atlanta team worked on it which explains why I’m liking it.
