Speaker Porn

Oooh those MKII's are on my short list with Klipsch Forte IV's (and a couple others). @Mather previously spoke highly of his L100's in a convo, and now the MKII's sound they might edge out the Forte's for me. It sounds like the MKII's have the same "performance package" as the black edition or the Classic 75's (I really wanted those when they came out - beautiful finish - but I wasn't ready to buy as stock started dwindling)?

Do you know if the MkI stands fit the MkII's? On paper the width and depth differences are negligible so they should be usable for the MkII's?
I bet you'd have a blast with these. I did consider upgrading to the MKIIs but I think I'm going to stick with the 1s for now as I've got other upgrade avenues that I've got my eyes on. But they look killer.

Yea, I like them. I had to look back at our convo about the JBLs and it was Apr 2022. Like I said then, I move at glacial pace on new gear - I'm happy with what I have so I'm never in a rush. Like I also said, I think from time of me deciding that I wanted to get a Technics SL1200G to actually buying one was like three years.

I'm moving this spring to another state so I'm def not buying anything till after.

I think the next thing I buy is a Luxman 507Z, then the JBLs (or whatever speakers), and then maybe a REL sub (I don't really need a new sub but my SVS is about six years old and @Joe Mac spoke highly of them and the high level connection is enticing). So, at my pace I should have everything by 2028-30.

I think you convinced me on the blue grilles too if I go with the JBL's.

I'm actually looking at a Luxman next week, and yeah trust me I get it with the delayed purchases I went 8 years with the same table and amp and only this summer got to the table and am now pondering the amp, but even then I doubt I'll buy one for a while yet.

And yes, after several years of swapping back and forth the blues are officially the main grille and the orange comes out in the fall.

You’ve had the JBLs several years now? Oh my that feels like yesterday…..

Fuuuuuck, I’m getting ooooooold…..

I can't imagine a different size stand.
I know JBL was rolling out the pkg changes with the 75th and piano black.
It's not clear to me if everything is identical.

They are doing a superb job communicating the least information possible.
Let me ask you for speaker connections....is there enough clearance between the posts and the plate/housing to accommodate banana connectors?

Perhaps it is an optical illusion, but looking at images of the back it looks like, mainly for the high freq (top) posts that banana connectors might come into conflict with the back plate?

I’m sure there is clearance but he did get spades.

I pick them up Monday and can check. I personally like the spade termination better with the added heat shrink.

I doubt the plugs would be a problem...

I'm not sure of the extact dimensions but I have banana plugs on my MK 1s and they fit fine. So I suspect it would be the same but don't quote me on that.

For those with lots of money and who insist looks don’t matter, I submit for your consideration the Vivid Moya M1.

Standing 5 1/2 feet tall and weighing in at 763 lb’s, they can be custom painted (at an additional charge), and cost, well if you have to ask…

Since this thread is called "speaker porn"....they look like what would happen if speakers could contract STDs

I don’t know. I kind of like them. They look like speakers that would be in Morpheus and Neo’s Dojo.
