Sargasso Seas and Caribbean Vibes (Reggae & Dub Music)

Any Eddy Grant fans here? "Killer On A Rampage" is such a great song and he has so many deep cuts on his albums that are great outside of his known singles. I like his production work with the Equals and Pioneers. Wonder why his Ice label hasn't reissued some of the older stuff, they hold quite an extensive catalog of artists.

Y Killer on a Rampage is solid. I know he kind-of gets dismissed because of Electric Ave. but it's still a jam to me.

Can anyone refer me to some more modern things that you like? I enjoy classic roots, dub, and rock steady. I also dig on some dancehall.

Mild Orange's first album Foreplay had an island vibe to alot of it...my brain is all fuzzy today tho, that may be a shit recommendation. I'll come back to this

Hollie Cook is a modern reggae artist. Her last album "Vessel of Love" is great. I also really like Prince Fatty presents Hollie Cook in Dub.

I’ve posted these before but these mixes from Domino in New Orleans are great.

Hey there, few threads are right up my alley - but this one is. Here's a list of some amazing reggae albums pulled from my Discogs. I have quite a collection of reggae and only buy my favorite ones. Some of these are Jamacian, some are roots, some are from the UK, some are pop/rock reggae, some lean more towards rocksteady ska.. some are all of the above!

I tried to limit it to 1 artist per so you can get a wider cast net. Also, some are "Best Of" comps since many artists have an insane number of albums but only 1 "single" on each. I left off the Bob Marleys, SUBLIMEs, etc because I assume you've heard of em before. Enjoy :)

(Alphabetized - bold means some of my personal favs)

Alpha Blondy - Cocody Rock!!!

I just saw that Lee 'Scratch' Perry passed. Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Reggae Giant and Dub Pioneer, Dead at 85 and it occured to ask for suggestions of stuff to listen to, I have a bunch, but someone's comment in another thread did get a fair bit of traction so I know I'm not the only fan who might be looking for more.
Not vinyl but one of the best music purchases I ever made. Really nice collection.

Everyone knows Bob Marley, but there’s such a vast array of artists and labels that it’s hard to know where to start. I’d definitely recommend the Studio One and Dynamite compilations put together by Soul Jazz. Then move on to various artists, labels and producers.

OK, I figured out how to merge them. I also added "Reggae" and "Dub" to the titles so it is more apparent what's within and also so that you can search for a "Reggae" thread. Dub is too short of a word unfortunately.

Back on topic:
Jennifer Lara rules. I'm a big Lover's Rock fan.
