A bit late, but do you guys want a personal opinion on the RSD records I got? Here goes.
MJ Lenderman "And The Wind (Live & Loose)" - this is my favorite RSD purchase. Excellent live show, well recorded and a nice pressing. Not certain where the records were pressed, but they came in a poly-lined sleeve, which I appreciate.
Talking Heads "Live On Tour '78" - another superbly recorded Talking Heads live show. Pressing is from GZ but my copy is excellent. Also came in a poly-lined sleeve. This might sound as a surprise because I'm a big Talking Heads fan, but it may be redundant in my collection, since I already have similarly stellar live recordings from the same era with the 77 box set and The Name Of The Band. Keeping for now, but may sell.
Jean Leloup "Les Fourmis" - late 90's album, first time on vinyl. Pressing is adequate, a bit low volume but good when cranked up.
Jazz Dispensary: Night Lights - this one is completely different for this series, going with a smooth evening jazz instead of the usual soul-jazz-funk. It's nice having something unique like this to play, so it's a keeper. Pressing is good, from GZ. A bit of pops, which you hear because the music is mellow, but nothing bad. Record was in a printed inner.
Hindu Love Gods S/t - completely forgot about this project until this RSD. It was pressed at MRP and is probably as good as it gets from that plant. No big issue, pressing is adequate and it's nice to have these songs on vinyl, but it could be better.
Soul Slabs Vol. 4 - pressed at Gotta Groove and they did a good job as usual. Rice paper inners to protect the vinyl. It had been several years since the last Soul Slabs - I don't collect the Colemine 45's so I always enjoy getting these when they come out. I really like this volume and the sequencing of the comp. Another keeper from Colemine.
Pharaoh Sanders "Izipho Zam" - stellar pressing from RTI and great sounding cut by Kevin Gray, but this one doesn't resonate with me at all. Really dislike the vocals on some of the tracks. I'll give it another shot, but it may end up in the sale pile (or PIF pile if I feel generous).
