@Joe Mac

I have always wanted to have Every Time Is The Last Time on wax but that’s a ROUGH price for a 4LP… then again, my 1LP gets really distorted towards the center labels so I’m a bit torn.

Soul Step Records Announces SSR-103!
(If you want to learn more about our label, come find our thread in the Vinyl Clubs section!)

Soul Step Records is proud to announce the latest release from one of Country’s best new voices, Sterling Drake. His latest release, “The Shape I’m In” is another classic set of Country & Western tunes.

Sterling Drake’s debut full-length album ‘The Shape I’m In” is a lively jaunt through the landscapes of roots music. Produced by Grammy-winning Icelandic multi-instrumentalist Thorleifur Davidsson (Sierra Ferrell, Laufey), the 14-track record subverts expectations and reimagines the familiar sounds that have shaped the country genre.

Recorded at the Bomb Shelter in East Nashville, ‘The Shape I’m In’ unfolds as a nearly autobiographical telling of Sterling’s adventures as an artist. The album stands out for its innovative approach, marking Sterling’s transition from interpreting the styles of his musical heroes to establishing his own unique voice. Inspired by legends like Willie Nelson, Roger Miller, and Don Williams, Sterling has developed a sound that reflects the depth and breadth of these influences while exploring new ideas.

The record features a cast of highly acclaimed musicians including Jeff Taylor, Dennis Crouch, Russ Pahl, Billy Contreras, Aksel Coe, and Davidsson, among others. Tracks range from introspective to raucous, marrying the Nashville sound of the 1960s with Delta blues and intricate Celtic traditional melodies, delivering a musical arc that is diverse yet cohesive.

This album is a significant milestone for the award-winning musician, highlighting his growth from a young honky tonk singer to a seasoned artist. ‘The Shape I’m In” promises to connect with fans of country music and newcomers alike.

Pre-orders for the LTD/100 Silver Dollar Vinyl are available now, Wax Mage variants will go online to Soul Step Subscribers on 5/2 at 1PM EST.

This is an exciting one to see repressed. Such a lovely album.

The first repress of El Búho's classic 2017 classic debut Balance. Widely respected as being one of the key releases that brought the digital folklorica & natural cumbia sound to the world, the album represents a meeting of different currents that make up Búho's music; a fascination with the natural world, and its protection, a fascination with the rhythms, traditions and sounds of Latin America and a fascination with modern electronic music and production aesthetics.

“The Bonus Picture Disc opens with the symbolic tolling of 500 bass drums, followed by 50 locked grooves from the 5 Kompakt founders, looping into infinity at 133 1/3 BPM, and the ‘33 1/3 Years Loop Opera’ – in which the loops are combined into one track that, in its reduced essence, is more than the sum of its individual parts. The magic of groovy loop minimalism and the ‘art of omission’ are once again brought to the proverbial point”
