To date, there have been 7 songs, by 6 artists, that have gone to #1 on the Hot 100 after the artist’s death (only counting lead acts). Otis Redding was the first of them, achieving his sole #1 pop hit just 3 months after the plane crash that took his life. The song is still considered one of his best & one of the greatest soul songs of all time!
