I kinda stayed away from singles for the new Angel Olsen album. Actually I’ve been doing that more frequently to go into new albums with no expectations. So this is her country album apparently. She definitely excels at the style. Her voice totally fits it - and I think that’s one of the strongest aspects of the album. All Mirrors in some ways felt claustrophobic, but Big Time feels totally wide open and spacious. It’s nice to have more room in the songs. Maybe it’s a little too mid-tempo in certain spots - so right now some of it runs together.

But I’m sure it’ll grow on me. I mean I love basically everything she’s done so I have no doubt I will love this one soon too.

I have the new Andrew Bird album coming in today, so I might hold off till tonight to hear if.

Really enjoying this one

@debianlinux you might like this one. @Rip_City I am going to load these into my queue. I think I will be able to make it into JQBX today for some spins because you will like this one too.

I agree with this. All Mirrors had some interesting production choices. The songs were fine by themselves and may have been better not in that style. It's funny that the three best songs on that one, "Tonight", "Endgame" and "Chance" are the three songs that are most normal.
Never mind I started the new Andrew Bird. It seems oddly a bit more experimental than his last few. I’m into it.
I came in here to mention this album, it's pretty nice. I have extremely low expectations for Andrew Bird nowadays and it's a nice listen. I like it better than "My Finest Work Yet" which I think was not an accurate title for that album.

For Andrew Bird, I did kinda fall off with the last two and didn't listen to them all that much. I find his stuff always pleasant and pretty good, but I think he used to be much better. This new one is really good though. I think it's better than the last few easily.

Yeah I agree. I think because his rise to prominence in the indie rock world was in the early to mid 2000s, so he's one of a number of other contemporaries that are still going and trying to release music to (sometimes) diminishing returns. See: The New Pornographers, M. Ward, Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire, Iron & Wine, The Decemberists, Okkervil River. All of those are debatable to be fair. All still loved and appreciated by their fans but you always feel that the best albums are behind them. I'd absolutely go see any of them live if they came near me though.

I didn't pre-order this one since I was disappointed with his last one, I'll have to see how I feel about it long term. I had bought a deluxe box of Are You Serious? that I only just sold last year because it was taking up space and I never spun it. That one is okay, but still missing some magic. "Break it Yourself" was his last really, really good album IMO.

Are You Serious? is when I became obsessed with him. I love him and honestly think he gets better with each album.
