The Idrissa Soumaoro is really fantastic - they don't seem to be pushing this but it features Amadou and Mariam (I think it's their first recording). I have another reissue so won't be getting this one but highly recommend it.

Belle and Sebastian is decent. I think they stopped being so "cute" and neat in their sound after Write About Love. Nothing wrong with that but they excelled at being twee, now they're just a good band. I'd say 6/10 right now with potential to grow.

Sharon Van Etten's new one will need more listens. Her voice on this one is much more amalgamated and will require a few more listens for it to unfold. I didn't hear any standout tracks from the start but I wonder if her decision to not release singles before release is why.
Just listening to Belle and Sebastian and really enjoying the new album, think this will rank high in my Q2. Also Sharon Van Etten will, very good new album.

This is a fascinating release in every respect:

A few I'd like to try across these (certainly not all). But one more:

Patricia Wolf - See-Through [ambient, field recordings, drone, ambient techno]

EDIT: I had to amend the genre tags, as I just finished listening. While there are some ambient techno tracks (...sorta...) in the back half of the record, it is primarily another ambient venture. Another quality release, to be sure.

New Kendrick is a complicated deep look into himself and his place in culture - as well as culture itself. Kind of a broad topic. But it’s also about toxicity, change?

It’s not a super fun album. I think Damn was so immediate and kind of fun in its production. This one is another change up. Some of the production isn’t clicking yet for me. But lyrically there is a lot to digest. I can’t throw out a score or anything on one listen to a dense album. I think it’s funny to see people’s gut reactions. Give it time. We’ve waited five years. Let’s let it marinate and listen more than once before we all jump into a consensus. Idk
