Ho-ho-hello, there N&G Forum! It’s once again the most wonderful time of the year – the 5th Annual N&G Secret Santa!
We’re not reinventing the wheel here; Secret Santa will function much as it has previous years. For those of you that are joining us for the first time (or those of you that need a little refresher) here are the rules:
Signup using the Google Docs link below. The signups will be open until Tuesday, November 21st 11:59 PM PST.
Please include your username, real name, shipping address, and links to your Discogs Wantlist and Amazon or other wishlist (if applicable), as well as any special instructions for your Santa.
We want everyone to have a good time, so please note that the Secret Santa 2023 price range is $30-$60 USD. Feel free to gift however you see fit within that range (i.e. a couple lower priced LPs *or* a single expensive one), but please do keep it within the upper and lower limits. Giving is indeed better than receiving, but we want to keep the playing field as level as possible. If you get matched with someone you are close with it's understandable that you may want go over, but try to stay within this range to prevent FOMO.
Creativity is encouraged! Wrapping your gifts and including a personal note is always a nice touch
Our forum fam extends beyond the borders of the USA, so be sure to also note on the signup form if you are open to exchanging gifts with international members. I will do my best to match users with their geographic preference in order to minimize international shipping costs.
Additionally, please provide a link for your favorite local record store so that if you are matched with someone from another territory, they can purchase something that can be shipped to you from the shop or arranged to be picked up in person.
The week of US Thanksgiving (November 22-23) I will be making Secret Santa matches and sending out the details so everyone can take advantage of any Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, or Cyber Monday deals.
And now for the most important part! – Buy your records and send them! Make sure to get the gift shipped so it arrives before Christmas! USPS recommends shipping by December 16th. Give a few extra days if you are doing media mail.
If in the event you are matched with someone who is not from your country, purchase records from a store in their country (either the Santee’s provided preference or other retailer, if shop info is not provided) to have it shipped to them or arrange for them to pick it up (if the shop is within a reasonable distance). International shipping is expensive and kind of a hassle.
Once you ship your package please send yours truly, Santa Extraordinaire, a DM with your tracking number. I will be following up with everyone to ensure tracking numbers are provided.
Lastly, when you receive your package take a picture and post it here!
Please do this. There is nothing worse than putting a lot of effort into a custom gift only you have your Santee basically ignore it.
