Lucius -Wildewoman

Not necessarily my favorite cover art but it is art that I find both visually appealing and appropriate to the music that lies therein. It also seems like something that would not be out of place in an art museum; part Monet, part Warhol.

Day 2: Belongs In The Louvre

Radiohead - Kid A

If I had “Journal For Plague Lovers” by the Manic Street Preachers on vinyl I’d have picked that. As i don’t I’ve decided to focus on Dr Tchock and Stanley Donwood, I’ve always loved the full packaged that Radiohead have put together for their releases!

Bonus hot take. I’ve always though that Storm Thorgerson’s artwork is as boring, overblown and overrated as the music it most famously graces

BELONGS IN THE LOUVRE

Elder - Lore

I don't think I could pick a favorite, so I'll just pick a great one. As you can see, both the album cover and this vinyl variant are beauties, but what seals the deal are the other three sides of the printed inner sleeves allow for a few different cover designs, all stunning.

Okay, I struggled here mainly because I am pretty literal and none of my records feel like actual art installations. I did consider a very psychedelic picture disk (13th floor elevators). Also, this was not the only record with nudity on the cover I considered (Marilyn Monroe and Houses of the Holy). I got robbed on the Floyd which incidentally is one of my favorite covers ever and for a long time I thought was hard to come by because the reissues come in a black bag with different logo. I recently procured it from Plaid Room where they only showed the sleeve image and was surprised to find the black bag held it the whole time.

Anyhow, this one is iconic, prescient, and clean and on the listening shelf:
