Immerse Your Soul In Love - The Radiohead Thread

Is there a decent description anywhere of what that "Scarry" Book actually is? I bought it, but still feel like the way it was described along with the pictures on the store site, were kind of confusing. It weighs a lot, but it's only like 36 pages "on gloss laminated board"? Is it like a really heavy children's board book type thing where each page is like 0.5 cm thick and weighs 1/8 lb?

It also said this "double-sided and viewable from virtually any angle known to the human eye" and said it was "quite unlike any other" but couldn't those things also be said about literally any book ever printed?

What I'm trying to say is, I feel like this whole thing might be a prank, haha.

Not sure if everyone saw it in the W.A.S.T.E. HQ e-mail this morning, but Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood are apparently signing one out of every 50 copies of that 300-pg hardback art catalogue book, too. I don't remember seeing anywhere if that book is a limited edition as well - it seems like it would have to be in order for them to know how many to sign haha.

I just read that! I'm excited, hopefully one of us gets it. Did anyone else order the book?

They released deluxe book editions of Kid A and Amneisac on CD at the time. They had loads of extra art in comparison to the jewel cases. My money would be on that being the scary book with the vinyl. The big book is more likely going to gather together all the ideas and pieces that they were working on at the time that wasn’t artwork for the albums.

Still got my red cloth cd book.

The kid a jewel case had more art under the back cover if you took said jewel case apart. If you still have one and didn’t know , carefully crack that open !!!

Yep and some early releases had an extra booklet as well as the inside tray art. Sadly despite buying in day of release I didn’t get that booklet ☹️

Oh noooo

Now I’m curious the process in which those were rolled out and if it was limited

A number of them were randomly inserted into the first CD run. There is absolutely no difference in it and there is no way of knowing until you lift the disc tray off.

I’m counting my blessings today.

Also I think I can’t wait for Xmas to grab the two stand alone books from their site. FOMO is strong.

I did along the cream scary book. Later that day I ordered a red Indy version too.

I have one of these. I found the booklet again recently. I’ll take some pics and post here if people are interested in seeing the artwork.

These are are actually from Amnesiac not Kid A. It’s been awhile. The booklet is in quite good shape unlike The Universal Sigh I have somewhere. I guess that was printed on Newspaper stock so it has a gone a little yellow over time. I should probably look at scanning the images but I’m sure these will probably turn up in either the Scary Book or the main art book. Anyway, enjoy.

On that note, I once tried to get an OG CD for the purposes of getting the booklet and somehow wound up with an Argentine copy that never came with one so far as I can tell, has a clear tray with just the first of the above pages printed on the back of the J-card with the back cover/tracklisting.

Yeah, I remember I could see through the gaps in the plastic in the center hole of the CD tray that there was some detailed artwork underneath and removed the tray to find that booklet years ago. It was a few years after I'd purchased the album, and it kind of blew me away that they would have designed and printed a booklet and just hidden it in there. I would guess that quite a lot of people who got them never realized it (I mean, hopefully I'm not the only person that didn't figure it out right away, right? haha).
