Had some time to kill in the CBD on Saturday, so had a look in my favourite shop. Added to my Dirtbombs collection, and picked up a late contender for my pick of 2024 - Gut Health’s Stiletto.
Davy Graham - Midnight Man (Decca, 1966 First Mono Pressing)
Davy Graham - Hat (Decca, 1969 First Stereo Pressing)
Davy Graham – Folk, Blues & Beyond (Decca, 1965 First Mono Pressing)
Jeff Kruger - Jazz At The Flamingo (Tempo, 1957 First Test Pressing)
A killer haul with 3 fantastic Davy Graham albums. Midnight Man has an excellent cover of "Watermelon Man"! The star of the show is the 2 single-sided test pressing of Jeff Kruger's 1957 "Jazz At The Flamingo" on Tempo records.
Harry Beckett - The Modern Sound Of Harry Beckett (On-U Sound, 2024 First Pressing)
Howard Riley - The Other Side (Spotlite Records, 1979 First Pressing)
The Michael Garrick Sextet "Hobbit Suite" flyer.
Signed Adelaide Hall and the Alan Clare Trio flyer.
A mixed bag of cheapo buys. Really looking forward to listening to the Beckett, I didn't even realise there was a new album out!
Horace Parlan - Up & Down (Blue Note, 2025 Tone Poet Pressing)
Pink Floyd - Obscured By Clouds (Harvest, 1972 First Pressing)
Tighten Up - Volume 3 (Trojan, 1970 First Pressing)
Black Sabbath - Vol 4 (NEMS, 1976 First Pressing)
Finally, carboot season is well away. I came across a seller today that had a load of new sealed albums for sale, including a few Tone Poets, priced under retail so I decided to for for the Horace Parlan. I was looking through a pile of easy listening when I came across the Pink Floyd and sleeveless Trojan and Black Sabbath, wich I couldn't pass up for 50p each!
