Fresh Grabs

A few recent grabs in an order from Aux 33 Tours in MTL.

I think @avecigrec will appreciate a few of these since I discovered them because of his recommendations.

This was pretty solid order quality-wise. My quick needle drops suggest that the Kokoroko and Wu-Lu are excellent, quiet pressings.

Was pleasantly surprised to see that the Kiwi Jr. is pressed at RTI with a cut by JJ Golden. Needle drops are extremely promising here as well. Very quiet for a crystal clear vinyl. I believe @TenderLovingKiller® is a fan. Did you pick this up yet?

The only disappointment is the Aretha. I can tell the KPG@CA cut is very good, but GZ did their patented GiZZ Crackle(TM) number on it. Maybe this will clean out, but just by the way it sounds, my hopes are not high (sounds more like their usual baked-in crackle than dust or static).
I haven’t yet. I was initially gonna wait for my local to get it in stock but they have not yet done so. I should probably just order from Sub Pop and I would have it the next day.

Today's haul:
Rush - A Show of Hands
Sun Ra - Ra To the Rescue Inverted jacket, thanks to @avecigrec for the heads-up on this one!
The Highwaymen - Highwayman 🔥🔥Boom Boom alert🔥🔥 banged up corner, $15 from Sundazed
Miles Davis - E.S.P.
Bowie - Heroes / Bowie - Let's Dance Courtesy of @TenderLovingKiller® doing g_d's work!
Neil Young - Tonight's The Night repress of 2015 reissue (CB deadwax)

The inverted version does look very sweet!
My regular version sounded great - hope yours does too!

I've been looking for that Sorry About Dresdan for many many years that I wasn't sure if it even existed. 1 popped up for only $25 on Discogs, and I've never been so quick to buy something. New Destroyer and Lupe came recently from VMP. Shame is a beautiful PIF from @WhiteDahlias . Clean, Japan copy of Basie I ordered. And finally Khruangbin and Editors!

Dinah Washington - For Those In Love (Emarcy, 2022 Vinyl Me Please Classics Pressing)
Gravediggaz - 6 Feet Deep (Gee Street / Island Records, 2022 Vinyl Me Please R&HH Pressing)
The Prestige All Stars - All Day Long (Prestige / Esquire, 1960 First UK Pressing)

It's about time my August VMP box arrived and it's certainly a good one. I was unfamiliar with this particular Dinah Washington album and it's fantastic, so so good. On the other hand, The Gravediggaz is an album that I am familiar with and previously bought the 2018 RSD pic disc which wasn't the best sounding, so I'm looking forward to hearing the upgrade. The Prestige All Stars is a fantastic find on 'Esquire', and features Doug Watkins, Art Taylor, Kenny Burrell, Tommy Flanagan, Frank Foster AND Donald Byrd.....phew!!!

The Gordon Beck Quartet - Experiments With Pops (Major Minor, 1968 First Pressing)
Mark Murphy - In Midnight Mood (MPS Records, 1970 First Signed Japanese Pressing)
Joe Harriott - Joe Harriott Memorial 1973 (One-Up, 1973 First Factory Sample Pressing)
Stan Tracey Trio - Little Klunk (Vogue, 1959 First Pressing)
Tommy Whittle Quintet - S/T (Esquire, 1955 First 10" Mono Pressing)
Keith Tippett - Blueprint (RCA Victor, 1972 First Pressing)

Some killer British jazz as well! A few of these are doubles and/or upgrades that I was able to get really cheap, with plans to use them or the copy to trade at some point. The Mark Murphy is signed by the man himself which was a nice bonus, with a notation that says "Dean Street Deb 10 '97". As someone that walks past or down Dean Street every day, this is a really cool bonus. The Tommy Whittle is a rarity with a few copies popping up recently for obscene prices. Finally, a very nice Keith Tippett album.

Weird day at the mailbox today with the Deep Discount Blowout record I forgot I'd ordered (Soccer96 – Dopamine) the book I forgot I'd ordered for the baby (Dr. Seuss - Fox in Socks) and a Bandcamp preorder I'd forgotten had shipped (Heroes Are Gang Leaders – LeAutoRoiOgraphy) Meanwhile, the package that I WAS expecting and was supposed to be out for delivery today wasn't there! 😂
