Everything Video Games!

I’ve been consider hallow knight for a while now. I’m pretty picky about metroidvanias and been afraid that it may be too hard of a game from what Ive heard. May just go for it the next time it’s on sale on switch

I'm really enjoying it but I just spent the whole year putting 100 hours into Elden Ring (taking a break).

I would say play Cult of Lamb first. Easier game with a more rogue like structure (also blends Stardew in) but similar graphics and indie vibe.

So, finally decided to go back and give Chromatic Ramasseur ago as I for the most part have the timing of parrying down now. I didn't even have to parry... Maelle had the first turn and one hit Chromatic Ramasseur

that's just crazy... you should have a much easier time than I did versus the remaining bosses

New damage record.

I still can’t get anywhere near beating that mime that’s a real doozy that you only can battle with one character.
I'm getting absolutely wrecked by the enemies in Renoir's Draft... seriously, how the fuck do you Gradient counter when the Contorsionniste does its Impale attack?!?!?! I feel like I should have at least stumbled on the timing by now but it destroys me every time

I couldn’t figure that one out either. Luckily it didn’t one hit me and I survived to replenish health and attack.

I don't know if I will ever be able to beat this Simon fight 😵😵😵

well, at least for now I'm going to step away... not sure i want to overcome this mountain. maybe I'll come back to it later, especially if I grind for it. but have no interest in doing a one shot build just to get the achievement, if I'm going to beat him I want it to be somewhat skill based... but surely would need to grind more to handle it

I got to Clea and I'm at a loss how to beat her. She keeps regenerating 559,000 health if you don't successfully parry every attack. This can happen 5 times during one of her turns. Additionally, if you get hit, you get stunned and can't parry or dodge. So even if you mange to take a chunk of her health via a counter or gradient attack it is quickly restored.

Oh the hell do you beat her? Do you need to be absolutely perfect with parrying? I'm not that skilled and from all the game playing I have been doing recently my index finger is killing me. I should rest it for awhile and not play and return later to try to tackle this one.

it took me a bunch of tries. I definitely didn't parry everything, just eventually outpaced her (and this was before I equiped Stendhal to Maelle).

the stun is the worst part because you're getting bashed while she's getting 600k health back. that's why I was wishing for an Anti-Stun Picto the other day 😂

what also sucks about her is that you'll eventually lock in on the 3 or 4 attacks, and at around half health she introduces new attacks which is a recipe for her to slide back up to full health.

the actual fight when I beat her wasn't crazy long, but I spent a lot of time getting used to her timing.

that said, she doesn't have anything on Simon.

Yeah, my main issue is I don't have her timing down yet. Especially with that attack that has baits you with false swings before it actually swings.

My first attempt with her lasted 2 hours. It was a stalemate. We both just kept regenerating our health. I gave up because I just could not take it anymore and my index finger was starting to get carpal tunnel.

it's so tough because it's so easy for it to go wrong. but unfortunately it's basically another parry test. with the damage you're doing it shouldn't be as bad, but offense will only get you so far (unless you create a one shot build)

Simon sucks because everything is insta wipe and then he removes everyone who dies, so you can't revive. it makes it really hard to learn his move set because there's so few chances to practice it.

also both his and Clea's fights stink because of the cutscene at the beginning. I know you can skip, but still, an annoying inconvenience

I don't think a one shot build is possible for this. 3.2 million in damage only brings Clea down to like 80% health. My main issue is in the set of attacks, I'm always likely to miss just a single parry. So that's 600k health back to Clea. And just my luck, that single hit also stuns one of my characters and Clea is back to full health by the time that character is unstund. 😭

I think when I beat her I managed to parry all the stun attacks. it really is the worst part of the fight, just watching helpless as she revives 600k health.

many sighs, swears, and groans fighting her

with Simon it's just laughing at the insanity

A quick google search says there is a such thing as an Anti-Stun Pictos. I wonder if I should read the associated guide as to where to find it and get that learned before trying Clea again.

I looked into it, it's a fight with one of those Petanks. I killed one very early on in the game, then they would always run away before I could kill it in the allotted turns, so in just gave up on fighting them. I think this one in particular is Chromatic

Accidentally triggered an encounter with À On. Wasn't planning on attempting this battle for awhile yet based on how badly I got beat when I first discovered this boss when flying around. Somehow this box blindsided me from behind or above3 and wasn't visible on my screen to trigger the encounter.

Was able to beat it though. Yay.

Edit, the name of the boss was Serphenphare. À On was the trophy.
just did this fight, was tougher than expected. definitely had me on the ropes a few times

I think I'm going to check out there Endless Tower now... then maybe try Simon again... then I guess wrap up the game entirely.

not sure if there's anything else I missed worth checking out.

I definitely haven't found many Gestral kids...I think it's you get a certain number (that isn't that high) you get an item that lets you access areas that you normally can't that have hidden boss fights, but I don't know if I'm looking to squeeze every last drop

I've got to find 3 more Gestral kids.

I want to try to platinum this game. I think I will need to create a second game though to go back to the prolog to fight the mime and get the hidden record I missed my first play though. Most people say those are missable. It's unconfirmed if you will be able to find them again when returning to Lumiere at the end of the game with some people saying you might be able to and some people saying you can't in guides.
