Yeah, it was one of the Chromatic bosses on a sky island. The blight wave applies 3 blights to all characters and happens multiple times. The only way I found around quick deaths is either building a character to use AP if possible to clear status effects, or have a built that clears status effects when using a heal tint. There is also the gradient attack Lune has that can clear status effects. But it's a losing battle. A single turn can get you to 10 blights if you mess up dodging or parring. You get 3 from the blight wave which I haven't found a way to avoid, and then each hit is a blight.

I gave up and left that Island. Will try again later if I get a built that can protect from blights like I have one that makes me immune to charm.
Maelle's Lvl 3 Gradient revives, though I'm guessing it's tough to build up to Lvl 3.

I could go back and see if I could fight that again, and see if I can help .. I'm currently in Floating Manor and there's some really tough fights and feels like it's a pretty big area, so not sure how long it'll be before I could try

I just unlocked that gradient last night before bed.

yeah, that might take awhile to build up to. I know I won't live that long in that battle.

Speaking of that, would I level up the Barrier Breaker weapon for Maelle which steals shields or should I level up the weapon that helps power up the gradient attacks? Or another weapon altogether?

that's the weapon I leveled up to 32, but I think that's because I thought it needed to be equipped so I could do more than 9,999 damage 🤦

that said, I do just fine with her... but again, my play style is being a parry-aholic, so I think just about any weapon would ultimately work.

oh my...in just had the most brutal death. was in a battle for over an hour and when I had it down to the last hit or two it killed me...

I'm not looking forward to starting it all over again 😩

second time's the charm... that previous loss really prepared me for any subsequent runs, especially since I really started locking on towards the end... which made that loss extra upsetting.

this time made quick work if it, relatively speaking

I feel like I've just encountered a boss that's on a whole other level...I don't know what to do

the boss is at the end of the Flying Manor and is named
Clea
and I'm shook

I just ground through Bloody Shores and got all my characters up to 70 something and two up to level 32 weapons.

I went with Lithium for my weapon for Maelle. It switches to Virtuose Stance on Counterattack and therefor I can do double damage pretty much every turn.

Can only 1 character at a time get more than 9,999 in damage or if I keep exploring I can find stuff to make builds to allow this for more than one character. I'm already at the point where most attacks do 9,999 now and never more, so I don't know how much leveling up will help me have stronger attacks.

Painted Power Pictos. once it's a Lumina you can equip it to everyone

How does this work / explain ti to me. Is this when it's fully learned / colored in? And if so I can apply it to everyone without having to remove it from someone else? Haven't tried applying it to anyone else because I'm so used to it saying the Pictos are already signed.

first off... goddamn! HUGE PROPS for making it this far without using this system more fully. seriously, I'm impressed -- shocked -- but impressed!

colored in ones are what's currently selected.

when you assign a Pictos to a character, after 4 battles it become a Lumina. you'll still have the Pictos, but Luminas so the same thing, just a different category and different cost.

so in this case you assign Painted Power Pictos to a party member. after 4 battles you'll now have the Painted Power Lumina. you can upgrade your Lumina Points Pool at expedition flags (one of the upgrades), as different Luminas have different values, the better using more points from your pool.

I forget how many Lumina Points it is, but whatever, you'll have enough and you'll want that Lumina added to everyone. I'd also suggest reviewing what you have learned and seeing if you'd want to add/remove from anyone. oh yeah, you can change them with no penalty. if you need more points you can deselect one Lumina that you don't want/need to get points back into your pool.

So, I have built up between 124 and 140 Lumina Points per character, but didn't know about assigning Luminas. I only was assigning Pictos. After assigning Luminas my team is immensely more powerful.

Chromatic Remasseur almost brorke me. Forced me to really bore down and learn the timing.
that was the first REALLY hard boss I fought in the game. I was so confused and frustrated at first - then I realized what was happening - then it got fun!

unfortunately the bosses, especially the optional ones, only get (way) harder than that 😂

Did I mess up by not doing the "easiest" Axiom first (I haven't beaten it, just completing the masks).

Played about 3 hours total of Clair Obscur. I don't know if this will be something that I'll stick with. The Dodging and Parrying is straight up not fun. I dropped down to Story difficulty because I had it with not being able to do a single parry, dodging way too soon. There is no way to time the dodges or parries efficiently, everyone is different. I've played all the Soulslike games but this one is annoying in a different way. "skill issue", "git gud" I do not care. The problem is the enemy damage in Story is way too low so battles are more boring, just waiting until enough attacks kill the opponent.

These mechanics in a turn based game are interesting to say the least. I have never liked Final Fantasy games, all the wild hairstyles, the combat just doesn't do anything for me. Maybe that's why I'm scratching my head when I see a lot of folks singing it's praises. It's just not for me.
