Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

Newb question here on setup of Hana SL MK II MC cartridge and what people would recommend for settings. I haven't had a turntable for decades, and the type of equipment I am using now is very new to me, so I have a few questions to verify setup and what others might recommend.

Setup:
  • Technics SL 1200GR2
  • Mcintosh C55 Preamp
  • Revel Salon2 Speakers
Current Settings In Preamp:
  • Load Impedance = 400 ohms
  • Capacitance = 50pF (Not really relevant for this cartridge, but this is the lowest this setting will go in the preamp)
  • Gain Db level = 64
After playing with these settings all weekend, I think this sounds pretty good. I am noticing to play at the levels I like I am turning the preamp volume up 50%-55% or more. Understanding the Hana cartridge is low output, is this normal to have to turn the volume up this high?

I am curious if others are running this cartridge what they are using for settings and how this might compare with their experience?

Are the Wharfedale Diamond 220 Bookshelf speakers decent starters? My SIL has asked me for some recommendations for a vinyl setup.
Don't have a budget, but I am already going to recommend the NAD C316BEE v2 and either the Orbit or Fluance table.
The Diamond's are currently on sale at MD. She's far from an audiophile so I just want to keep it basic. Thanks!

They are. The 225s are 50 bucks more, probably worth it if it's not a tiny room. With that amp, either one would make a nice starter setup.

Take a took at Harman's portfolio and tell me which brands they haven't jacked up too much. I expect to see more audio logos in cars, on soundbars and TVs, maybe in movie theaters at some point. But I'm not expecting to see any cool Denon turntables or Marantz gear coming our for at least 7-10 years. Maybe one more cycle that was already deep into the product launch cycle, but that's about it.
 
Denon are up there as one of the premier AVR brands so I think they likely don't mess things up that much. This feels like a bargain-bin way to jump into home theater and get some hi-fi brands as an added perk.

That’s the problem, they buy the name and eventually all the products are designed by the same companies using the same engineers and the same factories kicking out the same products just with different labels on them.

JBL is still in good standing, but yeah let's hope for the best.
Change is inevitable.
 
Denon can't be any less customer-friendly under Harman than it was under Sound United. It wouldn't stand behind a product if you put a gun to its head. That gear was a total waste of money and time.

Maybe Harman will supply it with some corporate ethics?

However, Denon will never not be dead to me.

My 1700NE had a channel issue and they repaired it without much fuss, only issue was I had to get a power cable from them because they didn't send mine back and gave me stick about it for a minute (eventually snt it for free)

That's great! Glad they now take care of people. I had an AVR and an upscaling DVD player that both died about a week out of their warranty period. Denon gallantly offered to sell me new units, as they weren't responsible for anything. Which they weren't, technically. But that's still shit build quality, QA, and customer service.

London Audio, at least, felt pretty awful about recommending the Denon units and the entire affair, and gave us pretty substantial discounts on their replacements. Went back to Pioneer Elite for the DVD player and tried out NAD for the AVR. Both lasted well beyond their warranty coverage and moved on to new homes.
