The “Thorens” branding in the white plastic font reminds me of the font used by Tiger Games.Sooooo Thorens just announced a new table.

I mean look I bet it will SOUND incredible but it LOOKS like a machine that manufactures turntables rather than plays records.
It genuinely looks like a prop from a late 70s sci-fi film. It’s kind of not ugly either. It’s just MASSIVE and probably hugely over engineered.
Something off the original Star Trek series. It genuinely looks like a prop from a late 70s sci-fi film.
It also looks like a high-end power tool, like some kind of metal lathe.Yeah agreed. I used to have this toy when I was a kid. It was called Armatron. It was the coolest thing ever when I was like 8 years old. This new table looks like Armatron.

yeah, it looks like the type of turntable someone who also owns a 3D printer would purchase. But it’s also not in that it’s symmetrical, it’s balanced and it isn’t tacky in anyway. It totally does look like a deck pulled from Clavius Base.
It’s not my taste or preference for a turntable either but I don’t think that means it’s ugly.
I prefer option 2, if space allows.Now. Informal poll. This thing inexplicably doesn't come with a dust cover because everything is stupid and money is meaningless.
So do I go with this style?

If you can’t go Sutherland, I’d suggest Bryston. I have the older BP-1.5 which is phenomenal. The BP-2-20 MM/MC is the contemporary equivalent. It requires a separately priced power supply which jacks up the cost to unreasonable levels in the US; maybe a better deal in Canada. Worth at least giving a demo run.The thing with Sutherland is that like no one in Canada stocks it! I don't know why but it's no where up here.
Damn - I had one of those! I made it programmable as a science fair project!Yeah agreed. I used to have this toy when I was a kid. It was called Armatron. It was the coolest thing ever when I was like 8 years old. This new table looks like Armatron.
