Definitive Audiophile pressings

been awhile since i've ordered from them.....but how is Record City with their VG+ grading? conservative? or should i expect some noise?
It’s visual grading, so really depends, but overall I’d say they’re on target. I’ve gotten a couple that we’re pretty far off VG+, but they credited me/agreed with me after sending sound samples. They use the EX grade too, so that’s what to look for if you want something pretty minty.

Everything I’ve purchased has been pretty true to grade, if not a touch conservative

Thanks yall. I’ll put a cart together and sleep on it before I order haha

Looking to get some new classical and wanted to start with something I know like The Four Seasons. I am curious if anyone can direct me to a good pressing and performance of this?

I was hoping there might be a pressing company or two that are top notch that focus on classical as that would be a good place for me to start as far as product quality goes. Then I can filter offerings out by performance. Really just been getting into classical recently, so appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance.

Deutsche Gramophon's "Original Source" series is doing really good stuff but they're a little pricey.

Classical is a weird genre on the format. That being said audiophile classical is $$$$. The original source series is about the best you can expect in an affordable package.

If you want the four seasons then the pressings of both versions of Max Richter’s reimagining are very good.

I’d say the first version is closer to the actual Vivaldi though.

I think both are the same re-composition but using different types of instruments? The first is modem synth and modern synthetic strings and the second vintage analogue synths and gut string instruments?

Maybe? I think, thought that the first sounded more like the original compositions till you got to the crazy second disc. (I listen to the newer one more often). But what do I know?

My memory when I listened to them both not that long ago was that the compositions sounded identical but the second one sounded more organic which makes sense given the differences in instrumentation.
