Cassette Tapes

I can't remember if it was shared here or on another forum but IKEA makes these small storage units that fit cassettes perfectly. It holds about 260 tapes.

I keep mine to the side of my records and it's pretty convenient.

For listening, I have a Marantz tape deck a friend gifted to me a while back. Some trivia for Disney fanatics is that this was the personal home tape deck for the Imagineer who designed Animal Kingdom in Florida and headed the new Guardians/Tower of Terror reboot at California Adventure. 🤩

And these are my current portable players that still work. I've bought maybe 5-6 over the last 2 years and they seem to have limited lifespans.

Some awesome tape labels that I'd highly recommend people checkout (and give some of that free flowing VMP cash toward):

Disposable America - https://disposableamerica.bandcamp.com
Dust Etc - https://dustetc.bandcamp.com
Audio Antihero - https://audioantihero.bandcamp.com
Citrus City Records - https://citruscityrecords.bandcamp.com
Lost Sound Tapes - https://lostsoundtapes.bandcamp.com
KillxAllxMusic Records - https://killallmusic.bandcamp.com
Good Cheer Records - https://goodcheerrecords.bandcamp.com/music
Community Records - https://communityrecords.bandcamp.com
Forged Artifacts - https://forgedartifacts.bandcamp.com
Press On Records - https://pressonrecords.com (Scott McMicken of Dr. Dog's tape label for his side project stuff)
Lauren Records - http://www.lauren-records.com/categories/cassettes
Stupid Bag Records - http://stupidbagrecords.storenvy.com/collections/178672-cassettes
PIAPTK Records - http://www.piaptk.limitedrun.com/categories/cassettes

There's a ton more I'm forgetting but these will get you filling up an IKEA unit quick and all the money goes direct to indie labels and musicians who keep making tapes in 2019.

my go-to walkman for the last 20 years has been the Sony Wm FX-888.

A KILLER machine. I have had 3 in that time period. All dead now.

Now reduced to using a portable mp3 player or whatever its called. A revolting sounding thing with 800 songs in it. No more filling up my bag every morning with 5 rewound tapes to last me the day....

What’s the name of the storage unit?

This thread is dead, and I'm bored, so here's my small but mighty Metallica cassette collection.

Kill 'Em All (1988 reissue, club edition)
Ride The Lightning (1984, Elektra)
Creeping Death (1984, Music For Nations)
Master Of Puppets (1986, club edition)
...And Justice For All (1988)

Good news: I finally found my old 93 model Sony Sport Walkman.
Bad news: I still haven't found the box with all my old tapes, so I can't even test it.

scored a Pioneer T-9090WR for $60. think its about 1985 and retailed for $600 or so then

Pioneer T-9090WR

feeling a bit dumb now having persisted with my old Teac for the last 20 years. I thought it sounded fine! Then I plug this new one in and there is a noticeable jump in sound quality
