Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

I've got one update for you that probably not too many people here would care about (though if you have kids, you should take note): Okee Dokee Brothers has shipped. I received my copy (which I'll be getting from my kids for Christmas) a few days ago.

It was my first Bandbox order. I took advantage of the Bandbucks Black Friday deal. I'm not so sure it was the best idea given all these delays. And after reading this thread, I've learned I shouldn't buy anything until there's another big sale, so for the moment I'm sitting on a bunch of Bandbucks.
Good to know! Moved it to that shipped category.

It's been commented on plenty by others, but seeing "zine delay" be the cause of so many missed deadlines is wild, given that ostensibly they sell records first, not magazines...
They should not be announcing albums for preorder If they can't get them out on time and not doing the zines so the albums will ship faster. They could also do digital zines as well. I almost got something from bandbox last year but I decided to cancel my order because the album was delayed and I really didn't the zine was worth having as I'd probably only look at it maybe once or twice. I see very little reason to order anything from bandbox right now.

Emailed to ask about my test pressing. Pam said it was for something that’s not out yet so they have to wait for it to be released to send it. AKA those damn zones are holding up me getting a test pressing haha. I was gonna try to figure out what album it was but realized that there are about 50 unreleased albums it could be

Maybe I am the only one, but I usually have no use for test pressings. I own three or four of them or so and I have never played any of them. I got Jimmy Eat World from them the first test press they gave but it had paper sleeve or something stuck to edge of record, Probably unplayable.

I'll usually only buy a test pressing if that album never got an official release. There are a bunch of Speakers Corner ones out there for titles that never made it to print. Otherwise, I agree with ya but don't mind getting a free one.

I recently won a signed test pressing of the new album by Black Pumas. Nice idea and all but I would have preferred getting a standard one with a cover
