Vinyl Me Pauly (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Leon Spencer wasn´t in swaps last time, but it was in swaps the month before. I swapped for it and its sounds great. If you like the music it´s a good deal for the price of 33$. I hope that Purdie shows up in swaps today, otherwise I might swap the Knight for credits too.

    YEAR END MEGALIST 2020!!!

At first listen, I found the percussion quite interesting, but also felt the overall sound aesthetic to be somewhat sterile. Then I found myself returning to it because I liked the beat patterns and decided to get it on vinyl. And I think this is an album that definitely pays off to be heard on...

Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

I hope there is a chance for the 2005 RHH release to be Zion I - True and Livin. Stellar album and in need of repress as discogs has only few listed that are rather pricey.

Let us know how that Sextant MOV sounds! I´ve been on the fence for weeks about getting this or not..

The N&G Top 500 Albums of All Time!!!

Eventually, every list will be biased. Legacy-bias, recency-bias, geographical-bias, formative-bias, artist-limit-bias, you name it. But taking snapshots of what everyone currently considers their favorites for whatever reasons and putting them together into a big list is kind of fun.

The N&G Top 500 Albums of All Time!!!

For some reason, I´ve never listened to Björks Debut  But actually I´m kind of relieved that I know the discographies by many big artists only partially. That makes it certainly easier to stick to my self-imposed artist limit. And it leaves me with the good feeling that there will be...

The N&G Top 500 Albums of All Time!!!

Assuming you have got Homogenic and Vespertine among them, I would bump Homogenic. Although it has some of her finest tracks on it (Yoga, Alarm Call, All Is Full Of Love), Post and Vespertine are better album-wise for me. I like Homogenic, but it wouldn´t make my top 100. Which is the fourth...

The N&G Top 500 Albums of All Time!!!

Trying to keep it down to one album per artist, I go with Post as my favorite Björk album.

The N&G Top 500 Albums of All Time!!!

Actually I´ve got several VMP releases on my 100 long list (Donots, Madvillain, Lost In The Dream, Ready to Die, Journey to Satchidananda, Cosmogramma, Person Pitch, Bitte Orca, Mamas Gun) but they would all have been there before they entered the VMP Olympus. However, the one that I would not...

The N&G Top 500 Albums of All Time!!!

Madvillain will make at least my top 15 but The Unseen will end up even higher. In my opinion, both albums are not only among the best Hip Hop albums ever made, but also among the best sample-based albums in general.

The N&G Top 500 Albums of All Time!!!

Just because I would like to see more diverse individual lists in terms of artists. And artists that are considered better than others appear naturally higher on the list. And I guess ranked lists are always artificial to a certain degree, because they force you to quantify emotional attachment...

The N&G Top 500 Albums of All Time!!!

What do you think about limiting the number of albums by the same artist(s)? Although I can understand that it is hard to restrict personal choices to one or two albums from certain artists, I find it annoying to see 5+ albums by the usual suspects in these lists. It might be interesting to see...

One of these could be Mariah Carey-Butterfly. Since Daydream was already a VMP exklusive reissue.

Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

According to Discogs, the only Stones Throw album from 1999 is Lootpack (Soundpieces or Pieces of Soundpieces), the only Star Trak album from 1999 is Kelis - Kaleidoscope. I think that Soundpieces is unlikely (because it´s a 3xLP) and Kelis is probably too little RHH related and was also...

Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Yeah, that´s true. I did not take the "and" into account. But this means Madlib and Doom are also potential connections, and label-wise also Star Trak, on which Fly or Die and Lord Willin have been released and probably the Neptunes themselves as well, as they produced Lord Willin´.

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I agree that Orchestra of Bubbles is unlikely for an Essentials pick, although I am not sure about the general appeal of VMPs electronic releases. While FlyLo´s Cosmogramma sold out rather fast (at least to me that was unexpected), Four Tet´s Pink will probably hang around in Swaptions forever.
